Bridesmaid Timeline

I've asked my 3 bridesmaids to be in my wedding and 2 have responded. I've spent hours researching bm dresses, picking my color, etc.

What is my timeline here? How long before the wedding should I expect them to have chosen a style (or at least given their input)? When should they purchase the dress? Do bm dresses typically go up over time? I'm probably using After Six. Do they discontinue dresses often??

If your wedding date on your profile is correct your wedding is next October. Bridesmaid dresses are not like wedding dresses that require eight to ten months to order. With your wedding in October the absolute earliest that the BMs can order their dresses is in April but that's a long ways off. Disregard what the salons tell you about ordering so early, they're just looking to make the commission. All dress companies bring out new styles for the upcoming season. If you picked a dress now, you risk the chance of it being discontinued before the wedding.

Definitely this! And if you have trouble finding dresses in your budget, the girls on the Attire and Accessories board are always a great help at finding styles in your price range.

My wedding is June 22 and the shop told me the last date the girls can order is the end of Dec. This is to ensure they all arrive together, with time for alterations, or if there is a zipper broken, etc you want to know they have time to repair. I don't think we needed THIS much time but i rather be safe than sorry. My cousin got married in July and we bought our dresses in January.
