Wedding Party

Maid of Honor is engaged to a groomsman.

So, my MOH is engaged to one of the groomsmen. I thought that, traditionally, the MOH and Best Man walk together? Would it be weird for her to walk with him and have a bridesmaid walk with the Best Man? I feel like it might look weird for them to all walk up there and stand in random spots. Maybe I'm just over thinking it though?

Re: Maid of Honor is engaged to a groomsman.

  • I think you are overthinking things a bit.  It is perfectly fine to still have the MOH and BM walk together, even if the MOH is engaged to someone else in the WP.  I mean, assuming that you aren't asking the MOH and BM to make out once they reach the end of the aisle or anything, they should be able to walk with someone other than their SO :)
  • Let the MOH and BM walk together and do the announcments togethe but if you're doing a bridal dance allow them to dance together if you're doing a bridal dance.

I think you're overthinking, and this is one of those things that can be sorted out at the rehearsal.  It's a 30-second walk, not a date, but at the same time, if they'd be more comfortable walking together, it can be arranged with minimal effort.  Ask them what they'd prefer and go with it.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • It's fine for the MOH to walk in with the BM.

I was a BM when DH was a BM in his brother's wedding.   I walked in with a GM and he walked with the MOH.   No worries.

But PLEASE do not do a BP dance.

I've always thought it's nice to let couples walk in together (even if they then have to go stand in random spots), just because it often gives the couple the chance for a great photo op in formalwear, you know?  It's certainly not necessary, but it's a considerate thing to do, and I've always appreciated it when my FI and I were both in a given wedding.  And I don't think people are going to notice or care if the wedding party switches order a little bit when they're walking up.
  • I think it's fine to have the MOH and BM still walk together; it's only like 30 seconds.  But I'd put the MOH and GM together in photos / introductions or other parts where they'll be spending more time.

If you do want to have them walk together you can do that and still have them line up with MOH and BM closest to you.  A friend's wedding last year they had 3 attendants each; 1 bridesmaid (a friend), 2 MOHs (her sisters), a BM (his brother) and then a GM and GW (his sister and her husband).  The GM and GW walked in together and both stood on his side, then the BMaid and BMan walked in and then the 2 MOHs together - they all went to stand in the spot they would have traditionally even though they didn't walk in in the "right" order.
  • My MOH's husband stood as a GM.  She walked out with the BM, and her husband walked out with a BM whose husband was an usher.  So it's fine for couples not to walk out together!
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.
