  • Is your job fulfilling? Not by any means! I am getting ready to look for a waitressing job because that's what actors do in this town.
How do you exercise?I dance. I wish I would lose weight though. It seems like I am getting stronger, but no inches or pounds are dropping.
One cartoon you watched as a kid:I watched pretty much anything on Disney, like the Aladdin series. Oh, and Fairly Oddparents...., as well as Angry Beavers!
One cartoon that kids watch now that you don't understand: I don't get anything that is on Cartoon Network now. The stuff is just plain weird. Except Spongebob....I get that show!

    Is your job fulfilling?
Kind of.. accounting and financial management are necessary functions for any non-profit to be able to reach its programmatic goals, or that's what I tell myself anyway.
    How do you exercise?
Bootcamp M-F 5:30am, currently nothing on the weekends, but as it warms up, I'll start cycling and swimming again.

One cartoon you watched as a kid: Rocky & Bullwinkle.. and Underdog!

One cartoon that kids watch now that you don't understand: Any of the asian anime things that I can't pronounce.. I don't have that much imagination.

1- Me neither. I am strong as an ox, but the fat stays.. at least our hearts are healthier.

2- Spongebob is awesome, especially drink or high.. not that I'm too experienced in that area, but I've heard ;)

  • Is your job fulfilling?  Sort of.  It's a good job and it pays well, but it's not what I want to be doing long-term.

How do you exercise?  I don't really.  My job requires a fair amount of walking, but other than that I'm a lazy ass.

One cartoon you watched as a kid:  Darkwing Duck!  I also adored Animaniacs.

One cartoon that kids watch now that you don't understand:  Dora the Explorer.  I didn't put up with that patronizing shiit when I was a kid.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. • Is your job fulfilling?
Nope, that's why I'm looking.  I've been working for myself for a little over a year now, and I just can't make any money.  The actual work probably wouldn't bother me as much if I wasn't so broke all the time.

    How do you exercise?
I go to the gym.  I usually do cardio on the eliptical and then some of the weight machines.  I'm hoping to get a trainer after I solve the job problem above or do another bootcamp.  Sometimes I do the classes, but I'm too uncoordinated to get much out of it, since I spend most of the time trying to figure out where I should be.

One cartoon you watched as a kid:
Smurfs!  La la la la la la...  I watched everything on Saturday morning: Garfield, GI Joe, She-ra, He-man, a bunch of weird stuff.

One cartoon that kids watch now that you don't understand:
I have no idea what the kids are watching now.  But I really don't understand that parents let their little kids watch adult cartoons.  I used to have a neighbor that had a kid that I would watch sometimes.  He was 7 wanted to watch Family Guy.  Yeah, not on my watch.  His dad had no idea that it was inappropriate when I mentioned it.  Seriously?  There are hookers on that show and they talk about sex all the time!  Pay attention to what your kid is watching!

    :gets off soap box: Sorry.
  • Mynameisnot: I totally agree with you about the adult tv shows. I even think the Simpsons is an adult show. South park and anything by Seth McFarland is not appropriate for young children.

  • Is your job fulfilling? Yes and no. Yes because I'm learning a lot of things that I think will get me where I want to end up long-term, but in and of itself if I had to do this same job forever, no.

How do you exercise? Doing 30 Day Shred DVD right now cause I'm off running due to tendinitis. But generally I'll go for a run, and I like yoga. I miss soccer and lacrosse.

One cartoon you watched as a kid: Darkwing Duck - Aerin, I promise that was in my mind before I read your answer!

One cartoon that kids watch now that you don't understand: I never got Pokemon.

And totally agree that Simpsons is a grown up cartoon!
  • When we got new nametags at Disney that had our hometowns on them, I got one that said "St. Canard, MN" (because doesn't it sound like that should be in Minnesota?)  Sadly, very few people caught the reference, though I guess that was for the best, because people with more obviously fictional hometowns weren't allowed to wear them.

  • Is your job fulfilling? This will probably sound odd, but I like the pay and I don't "mind" what I do, and I know I have a sweet gig, and I actually would be fine if I stayed exactly where I am ... but I really don't like the idea of doing it for the rest of my life, mainly because the management team keeps trying to push me to "move up", and they really don't like hearing "No, really, I'm fine not 'reaching my full potentail. This isn't high school, I just want my bills to get paid", lol.

How do you exercise? I'm bad, because I currently don't (I hate it!). Last summer when I was trying to lose weight pre-dress shopping, I was alternating between the 30-day Shred and The Firm dvds. Once I knew I couldn't gain or lose and weight to fit in the dress, I was like "F*ck this, I'll just diet". I've been debating starting up again since I could stand to tone up a bit.

One cartoon you watched as a kid: Fairly Odd Parents ... though I watched that in high school ... actually I still watch it, lol. One that I actually stopped watching when I got older: The Care Bears.

One cartoon that kids watch now that you don't understand: I think it's called "Yo Gabba Gabba" ... I might just be predjudice because I think the name is stupid.
I used to "not get" Chowder, but now that I've actually given it 5 minutes of my time, I find it entertaining.

ANd its not just the TV shows.. Story from a coworker today:
She took her 3 yo son to the circus this weekend. When he came home, they gave him a bath, but as soon as he got out, he wanted to go dance in the living room, lke the circus performers. He refused to put on pajamas first because, " The dancing girls weren't wearing clothes"... Coworker and hubby were duly embarrassed! They thought it was a little risque for a circus, but are desensitised to ladies in leotards and stuff, I guess.

  • Lol, I just find it so shocking that some government agency took the time to rate tv shows and movies and put them out there, and people just ignore them.  I definately think there is a place for adult entertainment, and parents have a responsibility to make sure that their kids aren't watching it.

Ugh, the next generation is going to be even more f'ed up than ours is.
  • The Offspring album was the first one I bought with my own money. My mom never listened to it so she never knew. But she was SO against Eminem. I thought he was a genius....he made rap enjoyable and I didn't take anything he said seriously.

  • My mom bought me the Sublime album because she heard a nice song about how "love is what I got" playing at the CD store.

She then took it from me and threw it away a couple months later when she realized that 99% of the rest of the lyrics were about sex and drugs. I was so sad - not because of the illicit content but because I really loved the melody of those songs!
  • We didn't have cable, so we watched PBS a LOT. I was not allowed to watch Three's Company or V, and bedtime was 8 until high school. We only watched the Simpsons and In Living Color when my dad was home because they were his favorite shows.

On cloudy nights we could catch channel 69, the Jukebox, which was like pay-per-view MTV, crossed with a phone sex line. You could call up and request a video and they would charge your phone bill $2.99. Apparently the only videos worth paying for were 2Live Crew's "Pop that Coochie" and GNR "November Rain". It was bad.. really really bad.

  • Is your job fulfilling? Yes and No... I like what I do, but I don't like where I am within the company. I want to move up, but I actually have to move to do that, and I'm just not in a position to even WANT to do that right now.

How do you exercise? I finally joined the gym. I am doing cradio now, and working with a trainer (starting Thurs) to hopefully tone of and shred some weight before the wedding.

One cartoon you watched as a kid: I loved Scooby Doo and the Smurfs.

One cartoon that kids watch now that you don't understand: Pokemon was way over my head, and those Wiggles people scare the beejeezus out of me. They are weird. I don't think kids even watch this anymore, but Telletubbies were frightening as well.

And, I really think kids grow up wayyy too fast these days, and watch inappropriate things way too young. I was in the group that was not allowed to watch R rated movies until I was actually 18 ( or so my mom said). She never figured out that I just snuck into them or watched them at a friend's house.

  • We didn't have Disney, Cartoon Network, OR Nickelodeon.  I could only watch the cartoons that were on the major and local networks.  And we liked it!  Uphill!  Both ways!

My mom caught on pretty early that I was a really mature kid, and took me to my first R-rated movie (The Green Mile) when I was 13.  She actually took me to quite a lot of R-rated movies after that, and we would discuss them afterward so we could address any issues that came up.  I plan on doing the same with my kids.

She also tried to stop me from reading Stephen King, but that didn't work out so well.  I remember hiding in my closet reading It after bedtime so she wouldn't catch me.
