Wedding Party

Look at this casting notice...

I received this today via casting network and was APPAULED!

Looking for Mr Right, not Mr Right Now? Have you got your eye on the dress, the venue, the china pattern and the honeymoon but no groom on the horizon? America's premier upscale cable network is producing a new reality docu series and looking for fun, outgoing women ages 27-29 who live in the NY/tri-state area (all ethnicities) who are dreaming about their Big Day and desperate to get married by the time they reach 30.

  • Oh man, that is hilarious!  It's really not all that different from The Bachelor.

  • Yeah. I guess not, but I didn't like the whole "and are desperate to get married before 30" bit.  What is the big deal with 30 years old anyways?!

  • It never ceases to amaze me that people are actually WILLING to look pathetic just to be on television.
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • That's so sad.  I bet it's WeTV too.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • That's so sad.

Last year there was a guy on the radio here.  (I'm in love with a morning radio show.)  He was 30 something and ready to get married and start a family.  But he didn't have a woman.  He had a good job and was good looking, had a house and a dog, and he wasn't creepy or anything.  He planned a whole wedding, sans bride.  Then the show did this casting call thing looking for a woman to marry him.  No one did.  I sort of felt better about humanity, thinking women are holding out for Mr Right and all that.  But really, I think someone would have if they'd gotten to plan the wedding.
  • Either that or VH1.

It's sad to say that I actually watch these shows. I guess the end product is humorous, but the casting notice is just so raw. There's nothing sweet about it. It's all, "we're desperate for a man to save us from being lowly spinsters." At least, that's what I got from it.

  • I dated a guy once who was desperate to get married before he turned 30, and he told me this on date #2.  When I met him he'd just turned 27...I was 23 and had no plans to marry any time soon.  Needless to say I was pretty happy when we stopped seeing each other after about 6 weeks....even happier when he married the girl he started seeing right before we broke up and moved her into his parents' basement with him.  He's now 36 and STILL living in his parents' basement...I'm not sure if he's still married or not.

  • Psh, everyone knows that your life is over if you're not married by 30.  It's true.  I heard from a friend of a friend that you turn into a pumpkin!
