Sweet Traditions vs. Cakes by Cathy

Hello Ladies!

Who would you recommend?!  I haven't been able to taste either (I live in Houston) but have heard good things about both and want to book before they fill up.  What has everyone's experience been with either of these for cakes?  I don't want anything intricate, but i want a simple, classic feel.  Thanks so much for your input!

I used Lynda with Sweet Traditions and absolutely loved her. She is a super fun and bubbly lady, and her cakes are amazing. She was by far my favorite taste test. I think every flavor she brought out was so delicious. She did a fabulous job on my wedding cake as well. You can see some pics of the cake in my wedding bio under non pro pics, a little over 3/4 down the page. We got a lot of compliments on the decoration and the taste.

I did do a taste test with Cathy too, and while I've heard she produces amazing cakes as well, I wasn't as impressed when I met her and with the samples she provided. I know rmfriedman on here just used her for her wedding and really liked her. Between the two, Lynda was cheaper for what I wanted.  I think whichever you go with you would be very happy, so maybe you could try calling each of them to see what quotes they give you and see if that helps you make a decision.

I went with Sweet Traditions. Lynda, as aforementioned, is a wonderful woman to work with. She is very accomodating in regards to design and budget. One of the brides here at a dilemna when the woman she hired to do her cake had disappeared and Lynda came to the rescue. I had previous cake tastings, and Lynda's was the most moist and flavorful-it's a real treat to have a taste testing with her. I would really recommend Sweet Traditions to anyone.

I did not try either of those for our wedding cake, but I have had Sweet Tradition's german chocolate cake and it is to die for! One of my friends thinks she makes the absolute best cakes! I'm on a very strict budget, so I have a friend making my cake at very low price.
