Is bridesmaids and groomsmen really tradition?

Re: Is bridesmaids and groomsmen really tradition?

  •   Wow, don't ask for an opinion if you already have your mind made up. I hope you're a troll and that someone really wouldn't act that way towards the people they are supposed to love the most. I'm a future bride and I don't want to go to bridal expos. I'd never dream of mandating that people go with me.
I also would never want to be one of those brides whose friends and family all say stuff behind her back like "I can't wait for this wedding to be over" and "Once this wedding's done, so is our friendship". I want the people I love to be excited about celebrating with me, not counting down the days till they're free and hating me the whole time. You need to get some perspective.
  • Wouldn’t dropping them make it worse for you? By getting rid of them, you’re pretty much securing the fact that you will have NO help what-so-ever in planning your wedding. I wouldn’t take back your offer of being in the wedding party – try to be more understanding of their schedules.

Well as a bride myself, I've been to two and found them excruciatingly awful. Why on earth would you put your best friends through this kind of torture? It's clear that they just don't want to go. And I can't blame them in the slightest. </div><div style="font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:10px;background-color:initial;background-image:none;background-attachment:initial;background-origin:initial;background-clip:initial;color:#1f1f1f;font:normal normal normal 11px/14px Arial, sans-serif;text-align:left;line-height:normal;">

I was deeply hurt by her actions. We had been friends since the 6th grade and it's been 3 or 4 months and I'm still hurt. Don't do this to your friends. </div></div>
