The M&M board...

makes me want to take a pickaxe to my skull.  I thought this board was bad, but O.M.G.

So, any exciting plans for this weekend?

I am hosting a baby shower for my BFF tomorrow; she's due to have a little girl in 2 weeks.  I'm so excited.  Our babies can be BFFs too!

Re: The M&M board...

  • Oh my goodness, I just looked over there and skimmed the thread titles.  Yikes.  I might have to get a glass of wine (hmm, maybe tonight.  Just remembered it's only 9 am) and do some lurking over there.

I don't have any plans this weekend, which I am so excited about.  I've had a few busy weekends in a row, and FI and I are both off all weekend so I think we're just going to be bums together.

Have fun at the baby shower!  Of course your babies will also be BFFs, it's in their genes! :-)
  • Ooh Saxy, non-scheduled weekends are always fun, especially if you have a lot of hectic ones right in a row.

  • Yeeeeahhh...I'm not touching any of those titles.

I'm so excited for this weekend!  FI's cousin is getting married, so we're going to upstate NJ!  I can't wait.

OMG! I hate the M&M board!!! I try to stand firm and I get flippin' attacked every other post. (One of the girls on there, called me 'horrendous looking' because I said she should have shopped for her BMs like it was their birthday and she said, "UHM MY GIRLS WANT FREE STUFF, LOLS") Just this morning Trix and I were called rude because we told someone she couldn't give her BMs their dresses as presents. It's a lonely frontier over there, but someone has to straighten those girls out!

    Have fun at the babyshowers!!

We are going to CT this weekend I am meeting with a potential florist!! Then my mom and her friends are hosting a giant bon fire with BBQ and ribs for my birthday next week and my mom said she'd buy me a new pair of ballet flats! Hooray for birthdays.
  • Dude, XOXO, you haven't been dissed until you've been told to have a miscarriage.

But, anyway - YAY for birthdays and BBQs!

Have fun at the wedding, too Apple!  Try not to pick apart the wedding too much :)

WHO SAID THAT TO YOU?!?! That is literally, the most villainous thing I have ever heard. Can I please disembowel them?!

Tide -- haha!  I shall do my best!  Honestly, I don't think there will be much to pick apart -- so far the bride and her family have been the absolute pinnacle of etiquette and graciousness (which is a nice change from a few of the other weddings I've been to!).  I received a thank-you card forty-eight hours after the bridal shower.  I live two states away, so she must have written them the night of the shower.

B -- next time you come to CT we should meet up!

  • Oh wow. I might have to go over there the next time I'm in a bad mood and looking for a fight :)

Xo, that sounds like such a fun weekend! Actually, it sounds like you all have pretty good weekends. I'm hoping to do some shopping because winter is coming here, and I could really use some more warm work clothes. And on Sunday we're going to the zoo! My MIL's 60th was on Weds, and several months ago she'd wanted to go to this restaurant that's right by the zoo, but DH and I didn't have time (it's about an hour away). So I remembered that and suggested we do a day out at the zoo with lunch there as something special for the big birthday...I'm excited!
  • Tide...I know that feeling...I was told to get an abortion by my x-MIL (I obviously told her to f-off...) and when I had a m/c a few years ago my mom (awesome person that she is) told me "Oh, well, next time maybe you'll use some form of birth control...like a divorce."

Anyway, enough about me...I have a hard time even lurking on the M&M boards because some of the people there...urgh...just...urgh!
  • XOXO, it was an AE of a semi-reg on the E board about 8 weeks into my pregnancy.  She was mad because I told her that if she was worried about whatever she was worried about, then perhaps she should reconsider the marriage.  The AE was banned immediately, and about 6 months later, the poster owned up to being her.  She was also, subsequently banned.

Jamie - that's horrible.  I am so sorry :(  It's one thing for someone over the internet to say stuff like that, but IRL?  And family to boot.  Fuuck them.

  • What's funny is, no more than 10 minutes after xMIL and I had it out...she did a complete 180 and started playing the happy grandma-to-be!  I feel sorry for my ex's new wife (well, not new...they've been married almost 2 years) for having to live with his parents with their 17-month old son...
  • Jeezum, Tide.  I'm sorry, that's horrible.  Was that E?

I don't understand how people have the time to posts as AEs. What a horrible skank.

And Jamie, that is awful! Why are people so poisonous? (and people think I'm bitchy)

Emily! That sounds like an awesome weekend too! I love zoos!! Except for Communist zoos. When I was living in Berlin, there was a zoo in West Berlin and an East Berlin zoo. The East Berlin zoo was like a strugglestown compared to the one in Zoologischer Gartens (I may have spelled that wrong) but they couldn't just let all of the animals go after the fall of the wall. Anyway, so the communists, obviously didn't spend a lot of money on their zoo or what animals they put in the zoo. So, squirrels aren't native to a lot of parts in continental Europe - Germany included, and they had Squirrels in the zoo. Squirrels...really aren't good in captivity. They were insane...and by that time, inbred. It was really surreal. I wrote a short story about the East German zoo keeper who traveled to New York City on a covert operation to capture and bring back squirrels for the zoo, so I can't say it wasn't unproductive.

ANYWAY. I love zoos!! That sounds like such a fun time!
  • Sounds like some crazy stuff happening!

I am going to a bridal shower tomorrow and a Tastefully Simple party tomorrow night.  Nothing too fun.

Emily, wanna trade clothes?  I have a bunch of sweaters and need some fun summer clothes. Hope your day gets better.

  • Apple - no, E may be BSC, but I don't think she would ever "go there," especially since she, herself, had at least one m/c.

And let me just add that I <3 zoos too.  I can't wait to take Taryn to the National Zoo when she's old enough to appreciate it.

My sister volunteers there.  It was always a great icebreaker to tell guys the story about the time she was molested by an emu.

  • Sounds like some good weekend plans, although I'm horrified by the multiple stories of stupid people wishing ill on mothers. It makes me sing Karma Chameleon to myself while I hope for swift cosmic retribution on those d-bags...because I'm nice like that.

As far as weekend plans? My BFF is coming over (FI is out of town) and we're gorging on pizza and beer. I'm ecstatic.

I'll probably end up on M&M after a few drinks tonight...can't wait.

  • I've never been to the zoo here. There's a small one in the heart of the city that's supposed to be pretty depressing, so I don't ever want to go. But this one on the outskirts is supposed to be good...we shall see.
  • I lurve zoos, but I'm also equal parts afraid of them.

The zoo in my hometown is a good small zoo, and they've gotten a lot of weird animals (red wolves that used to escape their enclosure weekly, no. joke.). But they also allow some animals like peacocks and geese to roam the grounds freely. I got bit by a jerkface goose there in preschool, so whenever I go to a zoo I'm always on guard for geese.

Birds are evil creatures!  I cannot go into the bird sanctuary because it scares the living crap out of me that one will fly in and attack my head.

  • They are! I still cannot believe how aggressive they can be.

My mom was on that field trip too, and even she couldn't get me away from that goose. I always tease her though, because she told me to run, but let go of my hand so that she could run too. So of course I just stood there because I was in preschool and you don't actually think a bird is going to bite the crap out of you.

I just tell her she's lucky she had her child for a shield.

I was once attacked by a Rooster. I avoid large birds.

I am afraid of goats. The college I went to had a farm and the goat would always escape and wander around campus, like 8 out of the 15 times it escaped, I was the one who found it. Public safety was like..."Why do you always find this goat?" and I was like "I HATE IT!" It would always scare the bejesus out of me, by bleating outside my window at like 3am. One time, I stymbled into my dorm room (I had a single) and I was kind of drunk, and I saw its stupid goat face looking into my window in the dark. I screamed so loud and called public safety to tell them someone was trying to break into my room....stupid goat.

If goats are weird and this goat was definitely after my sweet, sweet booty - what does that make me?

Also, one time when the goat escaped, I was walking back from the library at like 1 in the morning, I was working on my thesis so I hadn't slept in days, and all of a sudden from behind me I heard "Baahaaahaa" I was like "Oh, hell no, goat!" and then I heard it again! It was farther away and I turned, and the goat is staring at me, backing up slowing into the woods. I told my house mates and they said I may have been hallucenating.

It always wanted out of its pen!!! Always!! It would never leave campus, though! It just wanted to be a creeper and hang around outside my dorm room.
  • I bet the goat was carving on the trees "XO + Goat 4 ever" surrounded by a heart when you saw him.

A pretty girl the goat wanted.  What if he was made into a goat by an evil witch and was really a cute guy inside who just needed a little kiss to turn back into a handsome man?  And he was just bleating 'HeeeEeeey  LaaaAaaaDddyy.  Plllleeeaassee KiiiSsss Meeeeee"

OMG. HAHAHA. That stupid goat. XO + Goat 4 Ever, is my favorite thing

FI always gets mad when I'm around my college friends or I start talking about college, because he's like "All you ever talk about is that stupid goat!!"
  • To go back to the OP:  I just this second realized what part of the problem is:  the board is named Moms and MAIDS.  These newbies think that their WP are their servants......
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • I just went over to M&M (goodness save me, that place was scary) and I don't think I understand its purpose beyond crying beebee time.

    Trix, you must be right.
