Wedding Party

Getting the baby down the aisle

Well, my fiance were start our wedding plans this taime last year when "SURPRISE!"  We found out I was due in August (kinda messed up the July plans)
We now have a new addition to our wedding party!  :)  But how do we get our 11mo old son down the aisle?  We are getting married our doors at a park, so I was thinking or deocrating a little wagon and having the flower girls pull him down?  Is that tacky?  White trashy?
Any other clever ways to get the ring bearer down the aisle?  Thanks in advance!

Re: Getting the baby down the aisle

  • I have seen the wagon done a few times now and I think it is adorable! Go for it! Just make sure your flower girls are old enough/calm enough to get the kid down the aile without tipping him over! :)
  • Carry him.    I wouldn't trust an 11 mo to stay seated on uneven ground.   Plus, it's one less thing to worry about needing to get to your venue.
  • I keep forgetting how big he is going to be at 11mo. so I never gave the safety issue a thought! I still get surpirsed sometimes when he flips over.
I love the idea of him walking down with one of our Mom's instead.  And he can still be the "ring bearer" like my FI was so excited about.  (It took alot of debate to make him understand that the baby couldn't be his best man) Thank you ladies so much!

lol why couldn't he be his best man? I mean, besides the fact that he isn't a "man." it's just a title like all the other titles.

  • I was actually thinkin of those wagons with the seatbelts. A kid can't really get out of those because the seatbelt goes between their legs and then around them. Obviously a kid can still tip them over, but I have seen older ring bearers, (like 8ish) or jr bridesmaids pull those before and it has worked out real cute. Obviously, if it is a worry at all.. skip it. Just thought I'd let you know I was thinkin of the seatbelt ones.. I was going to show a picture, my nephew plays in it all the time but for some reason I can't get it uploaded on here..
  • I brought it up with my FH last night, and we agreed that the wagon idea is out.  Super cute idea if we had the big bucket plastic wagon with the seatbelts.  But my 7 yr old flower girl is TINY so I don't think she could pull him.  My fiance said he'd like to carry the baby down instead, then pass him off for the ceremony.
