Wedding Party

Stina93446

How did you pick the titles for your tables? I want to something like that instead of numbers!

Re: Stina93446

  • We picked things we like....yeah, not quite a theme. But I have the list somewhere and each table had a tiny inscription/joke to go with the name....Let me see if I can dig them up.

  • Okay, I can't find the final list, but I did find a rough draft of them....here goes

Scooter- According to manual, Aaron's girlfriend could weigh no more than 145 lbs.

Disneyworld- "Stina, how many times do we need to meet Mickey?!"

Puerto Vallarta- No necesito hablar espanol.

Broadway- "Step Kick Kick Leap Kick Touch, Again..."

TRS-80- "Hey we should totally hook up the old train set to the TRS-80!"

Family Vacations- There's no better bonding experience than having 3 kids share 2 seat belts.

Those are some of them....I'll see if I can somehow remember the rest.

Awh! Those are so sweet. I like that!

FI and I are kicking around the idea of song titles, and then the favor be a mixed CD that has all of the table names.
  • That's a cute idea. I like it. Do you have any songs picked out? Are they all from the same band that you and FI like? That's also a cute idea.

We just like so much different music, I think it would have to be different artists. Like, "Brooklyn" by Neva Dinova would have to be on there (we wanted to have that be our first dance, but it's not appropriate) and "To Be Young" by Ryan Adams and "Pablo Picaso" by The Modern Lovers.

...hmm, I guess music makes the most sense for us.
  • I think it's a great idea regardless. Have fun with them.

Yay! Now I have something to do on the subway. Scour my ipod!
  • Oooh, if we had done songs, I know that "Brighter than Sunshine" by Aqualung would have been a table. We used the song in the processional though...

That's such a good song for the processional. I have no idea what we are using for ceremony. I have time for that.
  • I've heard a lot of people really look down on cd's as favors.  Kind of like, why would you want a cd with someone else's favorite songs?  Maybe the times have changed in the last 6 months, but I would throw this idea out on the reception or E boards before you fall in love with the idea.

Hmm, ok. I totally will throw it out there.

That's funny. My boss said the two best favors she got at a wedding was a mix CD, because it turned her on to new music and a personalzied match book because everytime she uses it, she is reminded of all of the fun times she had.

Maybe if it's a bad idea, I could do a different favor, but have a pretty basket of the CDs that people could take if they wanted.
  • I feel like the best favors are ones you can eat. I didn't know this until after our wedding though. We did fans. It wasn't even hot that day either. We were planning on it being in the 90-100s. So looking back, I wish we had done fortune cookies because I am half chinese.

  • The other aspect with CDs is buying the rights to the music.  That's something very much OUT THERE right now so it's something to keep in mind.
  • Personally, I wouldn't have a problem with it, but the general consensus I got from the boards was that it wasn't a great idea.

I put it to the ladies of the reception board. The other thing I was thinking was, if not for the favors, maybe in the Welcome Bags at the Hotel for the OOT guests and label it "For the Ride Home" or something cheesy. I just know there will be guests that ask about the songs.

I didn't even think about the rights to the music. I will have to look into if you can distribute that many copies.
  • haha, I don't think anyone thinks about the song rights when doing wedding cd's.  I think it would be really cute to have a basket at the reception with a sign that says "for the ride home!"

  • Yeah, I hadn't thought about the rights. I don't think a lot of brides do, actually. But it's very honest.

Yeah!! I like that idea, too!!

Then we can have a more traditional and possibly edible favor. Favors confuse me so much! I have never managed to take one home with me from a wedding. I always like the welcome bags better. Hehehe.
  • The last weddings we've attended gave these out.

A tiny box of seeds- never planted, they totally got thrown in the garbage.
Tulip Bulbs- we gave them to FIL. I have no idea if he planted them.
    Another wedding didn't do them.
And the most recent one gave out homemade jars of jalepeno oil and caramel sauce.
