         It is wonderful that you got 100+ on tests and A's, bu you should know not to start sentences with "And" and "But".  Sorry, I had to do it.  It feels very glass houses and stones to me...if you know what I mean.

    Summa cum laude English major/post-grad writing teacher here.  You actually can start sentences with "and" and "but" so long as they aren't sentence fragments.  The reason they teach that to third graders is because they have a tendency to just write fragments.  HTH!
