Wedding Party

bridesmaids

Hi there people, i am looking to do different dresses for my briadesmaids but in the same color.  I need some ideas for designers or places to get dresses that are good for this!   Any ideas would be appriciated!

Re: bridesmaids

  • I used Alfred Angelo, but pretty much any designer will work.
  • Davids Bridal....not everyone is a fan of them (they're hit or miss with customer service) but I had a fine experiecne with them and you can see all the styles by color on their website.

  • Ditto pp. Your wedding is way far away. While it's nice to look, you should wait until at least a  year out from the date to find dresses. Styles get discontinued and tastes do as well. Also, bms' bodies change too, so one of your friends may be expecting at that time.

But when the time comes, YES you can pick almost ANY designer out there and this idea will work. We did this with Jim Hjelm dresses and added sashes.

So kick her pregnant @$$ out!  No one wants to see that :) JK- don't really!

I agree with all the PP's on here.  I was in a wedding once where we picked DB dresses over a year before and the bride really wanted to change the style 6 months before, but we already bought them so she was stuck.  She even wanted to change from Navy blue to purple.

  • thanks for all the advise guys.  We are not even going to for a few months but i figured i should strat thinking about it!
  • Yeah, if any of your BMs are pregnant, super tiny (like size 0) or a larger plus size, check out designer's websites before shopping to make sure the lines you look at will accommodate all of your BMs.  Most BM dress lines run from sizes 2 or 4 to somewhere in the 20s, I think.

Unless all of your BMs are close to a sample size 8-10, you might want to start out at a David's Bridal or Alfred Angelo store as well to at least get an idea of what styles your BMs like, even if you're not purchasing from there.  It can be difficult to tell what looks good when trying on dresses that are nowhere near your size.
