Re: WP Tuesday

  • 1. What is your favorite food to eat on the Fourth of July?
    A good hamburger.

    2. Have you ever seen a fireworks display that has just blown you away?  Where?
Disney World.  Their fireworks displays are always great but on the 4th of July and New Years, they are amazing.

    3. What was the hardest thing to adjust to when you began living with your FI or DH.  (If you are engaged and not living together, what do you think will be the toughest?)
DH and I dated for a few years before living together so I knew what his habits were before living together.  Nothing was an adjustment at that point.

    4. Is there a branch of the military that you have a particular attachment to?
I grew up a Navy brat, have a BIL in the Marine Corps, and uncles in the Army but I really don't have an "attachment" to it or any other branch.

    5. What is one goofy thing that you can do with or around your DH or FI that you did not do with or around any exes?
This is a hard one because DH and I started dating when we were young so I didn't really have any other BF as an adult.  DH just lets me be me.  All my crazy and annoying (annoying to him, perfectly normal to me!) habits, he fully accepts.

  • 1. What is your favorite food to eat on the Fourth of July?
    Crabs

    2. Have you ever seen a fireworks display that has just blown you away?  Where?
Yes, Oriole Park at Camden Yards after a game.

    3. What was the hardest thing to adjust to when you began living with your FI or DH.  (If you are engaged and not living together, what do you think will be the toughest?)
There wasn't really anything super hard to adjust to because we had been together for over 9 years when we got married (lived together for 2) so there really weren't any surprises.

    4. Is there a branch of the military that you have a particular attachment to?
Navy, because my Pop was in it.

    5. What is one goofy thing that you can do with or around your DH or FI that you did not do with or around any exes?
Well since I really didn't have any long term relationships before DH (high school sweethearts) there really isn't any goofy things that I didn't do around my exes that I don't do around DH.

  • 1. What is your favorite food to eat on the Fourth of July? Don't have one.

    2. Have you ever seen a fireworks display that has just blown you away?  Where? Yes.  Boston, 2008.  H and I went to the hatch shell in Boston Garden to watch them.  They were amazing.

    3. What was the hardest thing to adjust to when you began living with your FI or DH.  (If you are engaged and not living together, what do you think will be the toughest?) I can't remember.

    4. Is there a branch of the military that you have a particular attachment to? Nope.  Many of my uncles were in the Army, one was in the Marines, and my grandpa was in the Navy.

    5. What is one goofy thing that you can do with or around your DH or FI that you did not do with or around any exes?  Just generally be myself, I guess.

  • 1. What is your favorite food to eat on the Fourth of July? anything cooked out on the grill!

    2. Have you ever seen a fireworks display that has just blown you away?  Where?
The one in NYC was pretty awesome. Having said that, my hometown in IL actually has a really great 4th of July fireworks show too.

    3. What was the hardest thing to adjust to when you began living with your FI or DH.  (If you are engaged and not living together, what do you think will be the toughest?)
Our differences in cleaning and how we were raised (we always washed a towel after one use; H's family would reuse one towel all week, etc).

    4. Is there a branch of the military that you have a particular attachment to?
We have a really good friend in the Air Force, so I might say that one, though I have a ton of respect for people in any branch.

    5. What is one goofy thing that you can do with or around your DH or FI that you did not do with or around any exes?
Be my goofy self! He was the first guy I dated that I felt I could truly 100% be myself around, like singing in the car, randomly skipping in a parking lot, etc. I do a lot of odd things.

  • 1. What is your favorite food to eat on the Fourth of July?  Hamburgers, Corn on the cob and potato salad

    2. Have you ever seen a fireworks display that has just blown you away?  Where?  Yes. Here in Houston...it was down town and they were launched from the tops of the skyscrapers. It lasted for half an hour, and was choreographed to music. INCREDIBLE.

    3. What was the hardest thing to adjust to when you began living with your FI or DH.  (If you are engaged and not living together, what do you think will be the toughest?)

Sharing a bathroom with a man. It had been just me and my daughters for so long!

    4. Is there a branch of the military that you have a particular attachment to?  The Army.  FI is retired from it, and my family is all Army. My niece is stationed in Alaska.

    5. What is one goofy thing that you can do with or around your DH or FI that you did not do with or around any exes?  It's not reallt goofy, but cook. I mean really cook. My ex was a meat and potatoes man, FI eats pretty much everything I cook.
  • 1. What is your favorite food to eat on the Fourth of July? Ribs!

    2. Have you ever seen a fireworks display that has just blown you away?  Where? Camden Waterfront (across from Philly) at midnight on New Years 2000!

    3. What was the hardest thing to adjust to when you began living with your FI or DH.  (If you are engaged and not living together, what do you think will be the toughest?)  Sleeping in our double bed!  I was used to sleeping diagonally across the bed and he would toss & turn like a crazy person.  So we both had to adjust!

    4. Is there a branch of the military that you have a particular attachment to?  Not really.  I worked at a Coast Guard base in Cape May NJ, so I'm always interested in what they are up to.

    5. What is one goofy thing that you can do with or around your DH or FI that you did not do with or around any exes?  Nothing.  Weren't many exes before H!

    1. What is your favorite food to eat on the Fourth of July? Cheeseburger.  That's my one of my summer favorites, too.

    2. Have you ever seen a fireworks display that has just blown you away?  Where? I love the fireworks in Philly over the Art Museum.  I've seen the fireworks in Boston where the Pops played and kinda thought they were overrated, but everyone loves them.

    3. What was the hardest thing to adjust to when you began living with your FI or DH.  (If you are engaged and not living together, what do you think will be the toughest?) The fact that he lives with me.  I like Joy-time so adjusting to someone there all the time was hard.

    4. Is there a branch of the military that you have a particular attachment to? Navy.  My grandfather served in the Navy during WWII.  I've read parts of his many journals and he has clippings from VE Day and VJ/VP Day and talked about what it was like.  So very very cool.

    5. What is one goofy thing that you can do with or around your DH or FI that you did not do with or around any exes? We are so very very silly in private and laugh often while making out.  I think it's weird and normal at the same time.

My brother in law came to visit us last 4th of July.  We gave him a towel.  Three days later, he informed me that he done a load of laundry because we ran out of towels.  I was like "But there were at least four more clean towels folded in the bathroom - why didn't you use one of those?"  His response: "Oh, I used all those, too."  I was SO confused.  And annoyed.

Yeah H eventually swayed me to reuse a towel, but I will only reuse it about 2-3 times and then I get grossed out and put it in the wash. I come from a family of 3, so even only using a towel once, we didn't have as much laundry as a bigger family where it wouldn't be as practical. I'm just weird in that I don't like using a towel if it's still slightly damp from my last shower--I like them nice and dry.

  • 1. What is your favorite food to eat on the Fourth of July?  S'mores.  I've never really been a big Fourth of July person, though.

    2. Have you ever seen a fireworks display that has just blown you away? Where? I worked at Disneyland for three years and spent much longer going near the park regularly/living in the area, and nothing can touch Remember... Dreams Come True.  They manage to tell a story with fireworks, and the effects are top notch.  17 minutes of magic.  Everything else is just lights and booms for me now, I'm forever ruined.

    3. What was the hardest thing to adjust to when you began living with your FI or DH. (If you are engaged and not living together, what do you think will be the toughest?) Hmm, can't really think of one.  Maybe sharing the bed.  He thinks I hog it, I think he hogs it.

    4. Is there a branch of the military that you have a particular attachment to? Two of my siblings did AFJROTC.

    5. What is one goofy thing that you can do with or around your DH or FI that you did not do with or around any exes? I can't really answer this one, because 1) I don't have any exes of significance, and 2) DH and I are the embodiment of goof.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • 1. What is your favorite food to eat on the Fourth of July? Ribs. And fresh strawberry pie. Or rhubarb pie. I like pie.

    2. Have you ever seen a fireworks display that has just blown you away?  Where? Disney World. But my folks live on top of a bluff where they can see multiple fireworks displays, so we usually watch from there if I'm home. Sometimes we have our own.

    3. What was the hardest thing to adjust to when you began living with your FI or DH.  He takes FOREVER in the bathroom. His fridge and cabinets were full of crap, and I am a very healthy eater.

    4. Is there a branch of the military that you have a particular attachment to?  Navy. My dad was in the Navy to pay for med school, and we moved around a lot as a result, when I was a kid. I think the reason my brother is my Man of Honor is probably because of that. When we were small, we became each other's best friend because we moved so much and were forced to get along. We've always been each other's best friend.

    5. What is one goofy thing that you can do with or around your DH or FI that you did not do with or around any exes?  Um... I dunno. I'm pretty goofy in general.

Oh I do love me a WP Tuesday Survey!!

    1. What is your favorite food to eat on the Fourth of July?
Anything grilled - fish or veggies for me.  And roasted marshmallows.

    2. Have you ever seen a fireworks display that has just blown you away?  Where?
I live in Boston and we have an awesome display over the Charles River - the past few years I've watched them at my friend's apartment, on her roof, since it overlooks the river.  gorgeous.  Plus, we can sometimes see the fireworks in the distance of other towns.

    3. What was the hardest thing to adjust to when you began living with your FI or DH.  (If you are engaged and not living together, what do you think will be the toughest?)
We are both messy, but in slightly different ways. My mess is more methodical, but he just drops his dirty socks or towel on the ground and I clean it up.  Also, it has taken me over 3 years of cohabitation to get the man to recycle on a regular basis.  And I still have to remind him.

    4. Is there a branch of the military that you have a particular attachment to?
Not really, I respect them all equally.  I do root for Army during the Army-Navy game because FFIL went to West Point.

    5. What is one goofy thing that you can do with or around your DH or FI that you did not do with or around any exes?
I have to name one?  FI is the only man I have felt 100% comfortable being my super goofy self with - I do crazy dances in front of him and make up silly songs and I've definitely not felt comfortable doing that in front of any other dude.

    1. What is your favorite food to eat on the Fourth of July?
Sweet cherries are my all time favorite summer food

    2. Have you ever seen a fireworks display that has just blown you away?  Where?
It wasn't 4th of July but we were down at disneyworld (my late aunt worked there and could give us info on when they would go off and the best place to be). The fireworks were going off over a pond and beneath the display was a cloud of smoke that looked like a light show in and of itself from the reflections. really gorgeous.

    3. What was the hardest thing to adjust to when you began living with your FI or DH.  (If you are engaged and not living together, what do you think will be the toughest?) I'm thinking it will be the TV. He HATES ninety percent of the shows on these days which means no more NCIS or Law and Order or Psych or anything like that lol we'll have to figure out a schedule.

    4. Is there a branch of the military that you have a particular attachment to?
The marines have a special place in my heart (thanks trashy romance novels lol) but other than that not really. No one close to me is in the military.

    5. What is one goofy thing that you can do with or around your DH or FI that you did not do with or around any exes?
Um... I can't think of anything goofy but he's a first, if you know what I mean haha (sorry TMI)

  • 1. What is your favorite food to eat on the Fourth of July?
Cheeseburgers and homemade french fries or homemade chips

    2. Have you ever seen a fireworks display that has just blown you away?  Where?
Every Sunday before Labor Day, WEBN and Toyota host Riverfest in Cincinnati.  They load up two barges and load up every inch of two of the bridges.  It lasts about a half hour, is done to rock, pop and classical music and about two years later you'll see the big fireworks family who does the Fourth's fireworks in NYC "debuting" fireworks that you saw from the Rozzi family at Riverfest.

    3. What was the hardest thing to adjust to when you began living with your FI or DH.  (If you are engaged and not living together, what do you think will be the toughest?)
Getting used to the fact that he HATES to throw out food.  He will eat something just to keep it from spoiling.  I learned quickly to make just enough for dinner or figure out ways to use the leftovers as ingredients in an entirely new meal (I hate rewarmed leftovers).

    4. Is there a branch of the military that you have a particular attachment to?
US Navy.  My dad and one grandfather were US army but the grandfather I was closest to was US Navy and I used to spar with an officer in the SEALs (although, the guy who taught me to fight was a retired Colonel in the Green Berets)

    5. What is one goofy thing that you can do with or around your DH or FI that you did not do with or around any exes?
Not so much around him as with him....we are the only couple we know of who hate having control of the remote.  We will actually get into wrestling matches to determine who has to decide what to have on TV.  We agree on most shows (Psych, Food Network in general).  Another thing I could have never done with anyone else is take ballroom dance lessons.  That is our weekly date night.

He is a nightowl and only needs 4-5 hours of sleep.  I LOVE to sleep, need my sleep to function

    4. Is there a branch of the military that you have a particular attachment to?
Navy....my dad was in the Navy  WWII, yes that's how old I am!!

    5. What is one goofy thing that you can do with or around your DH or FI that you did not do with or around any exes?
Be totally snarky and judgemental of others while people-watching, knowing we don't take pretty much of anything seriously

  • 1. What is your favorite food to eat on the Fourth of July?
    BBQ chicken!! And S'mores :)

    2. Have you ever seen a fireworks display that has just blown you away? Where?
I love all fireworks - but my most favorite is Disney's Fantasmic show - (esp. after I got engaged :))

    3. What was the hardest thing to adjust to when you began living with your FI or DH. (If you are engaged and not living together, what do you think will be the toughest?)
I think it'll be difficult to join our finances (b/c I'm a shopper!) and not having DVR room for "all" my shows. ;)

    4. Is there a branch of the military that you have a particular attachment to?
ANY branch - if one supports our country, they are a hero in my eyes. I thank them daily for my freedoms.

    5. What is one goofy thing that you can do with or around your DH or FI that you did not do with or around any exes? I honestly can do ANYTHING around my FI - and I tell him frequently that "I NEVER have done this in the past!" He knows I'm so comfortable with him (and vice versa) that we can be ourselves no matter WHAT. ♥
  • 1. What is your favorite food to eat on the Fourth of July? My homemade potato salad!!  It is to die for and it's a longtime family recipe :)

    2. Have you ever seen a fireworks display that has just blown you away?  Does the bedroom count?  Ohhh wait....this isn't "that kind" of poll, lol.  Seriously though, no.  I've seen fireworks, but none that blew me away.  I would love to see them in Boston though!

    3. What was the hardest thing to adjust to when you began living with your FI or DH.  He never cleans up after himself and leaves clothes all.over.the.effing.place.

    4. Is there a branch of the military that you have a particular attachment to?  Air Force baby!  My father was an Intelligence Officer and my cousin just retired after about 17yrs or so and just moved to CO to become an instructor at the Air Force Academy

    5. What is one goofy thing that you can do with or around your DH or FI that you did not do with or around any exes?  That I can completely be ME without a weird look.  I can be one goofy character and he rolls with it every single time.  Most people wouldn't even think we were married with the way that we joke around and shiittalk one another.....some good stuff right there!  :)

  • Thanks to all of you lovely ladies.....I am now craving S'mores!  I haven't had those in years, so tomorrow sounds like a great time to have 'em :)

Happy Fourth of July Eve ladies.  Here we go....

    1. What is your favorite food to eat on the Fourth of July? Home made ice cream. My dad always used to make pink with peppermint sticks crushed into it and green mint with chocolate chips. YUM.

    2. Have you ever seen a fireworks display that has just blown you away?  Where?
Inner Harbor, Baltimore about 20 years ago. It was phenomenal. Also at Disneyworld.
    3. What was the hardest thing to adjust to when you began living with your FI or DH.  (If you are engaged and not living together, what do you think will be the toughest?) Sharing the bed. I'm a cover hog and he snores (but denies it.)

    4. Is there a branch of the military that you have a particular attachment to? I guess Navy because my dad served. Although I really love planes, pilots and the Blue Angels so maybe it's a tie between Navy and Air Force.

    5. What is one goofy thing that you can do with or around your DH or FI that you did not do with or around any exes? Totally be myself. Finally!

  • 1. What is your favorite food to eat on the Fourth of July?
FSIL Chicken Salad. I normally don't care for mixed salads but hers is amazing

    2. Have you ever seen a fireworks display that has just blown you away?  Where?
Yes, Cumberland, WI. We were at a friends cabin when I was 16. 13 years later I still remember how you could feel the fireworks booming. :)

    3. What was the hardest thing to adjust to when you began living with your FI or DH.  (If you are engaged and not living together, what do you think will be the toughest?)
The hardest thing for us has been his roommate, They own the house together and are figuring out what to do know. But the roommate had a total B***h for a girl friend that comes over in the middle of the night and leaves our door unlocked and he never cleans up after himself.

    4. Is there a branch of the military that you have a particular attachment to?
Navy, Dad and Brother, But I think they are all amazing and really appreciate what they all do.

    5. What is one goofy thing that you can do with or around your DH or FI that you did not do with or around any exes?
Honestly he is the first guy I feel like myself with, so there is singing and dancing and all of that but the bigest thing is I talk to myself around him. :)
