Wedding Party

From 3 girls to 1....

hi everyone,

So my FI and I are planning on a small wedding btwn 80-100 guests, and decided on 3 attendants each. FI is from the east coast, and I am from socal. Anyway I don't have any sisters or any female cousins that i am close to, so my WP was going to be my BFF as MOH, and 2 of FI's sisters that he is really close to as BMs. My only bro will also be in WP as a GM.

Both of his sisters are on the east coast, and one just got put on probation (super long story...) and the other just got laid off from her job. So needless to say they wont be able to attend. While I understand, and FI is a little heartbroken, I'm left without a WP.  Would it be strange to leave it so uneven? I was in the military for several years, and the majority of my close friends are deployed or overseas...so i'm kinda stuck. I could ask my younger female cousins, but the wedding is in Oct, and I wouldn't want them to feel like second choices....

Would it look bad with just the MOH and  a 3 guys?

  • Uneven sides are the new thing. If you really want it to be even why not put your brother on your side...since he is your brother. Don't "replace" people. The second choices will know they are sloppy seconds and the replaced will know they are dispensable.

  • So glad you posted this! Originally both sides were going to have 6 but now I'm possibly going to be short 2 BM due to their financially difficulties. So it will maybe be 4 BM and 6 GM.
  • DH's brother couldn't attend, we still listed him as a groomsman in the program.

I agree that if you're really hung up on the ratios, you can just switch your brother to your side.  It makes more sense for him to stand with you anyway, unless he's super close to your FI.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
