Wedding Party

Ushers?

Did you have/are you having ushers at your wedding?  Who did you ask?

FI and I can't decide if we should have them, and if we do have them, who we should ask (brothers/sisters not BM/GM or cousins).  So hearing what other people did/are going to do may help us decide =]

Re: Ushers?

  • We had my teenaged cousins.  I wanted to include them, so it worked out.

Since you are still 18 months away, you should hold off before you ask anyone to do anything for a while.
  • We're not having them. 2 of my family members will be greeting guests and handing out programs as they enter the chapel and they will just let them know to sit on either side, as close to the front as they'd like.

  • We didn't have them.

  • My two 14 year old cousins were our ushers.

  • Typically in our circle the GM double as ushers.
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • We had two.  They were friends of DH's younger brother (also DH's friends) and we wanted to include them.

  • I'll be asking my brother. And we'll probably have the GMs help out too.

  • Thanks for your help =]  We're not asking anyone for awhile, but we've mostly just been talking things out and came to a standstill on this one.  Still not sure what we're going to do, but we've got nothing but time right now! =]

  • If it helps, it didn't occur to us to have ushers until about a month before the wedding and we asked then.  They just wore nice khakis and sportcoats and we got them each a bout.  They didn't seem to mind being asked late (one is the FGs' brother and the other is the RB's brother so they knew the WP had already been asked).  So you have plenty of time to resolve :)
