Best Man Question

My future step-son was going to be my FI bestman. He just called to say he may not make it(he is in the army) So, question is, should we still rent him a suit in case he can make it. And if he can't, is it OK to not have a best man? We are both so disapointed but not much we can do.

Re: Best Man Question

  • It's okay not to have a best man if he can't make it; he's still the best man, he's just absent.  It would probably be easier on everyone if you just plan on having him in his dress uniform if he'll be there, put off the suit rental until the last possible minute, or just let him wear the nicest thing he has.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • It must be very dissapointing, but understandable as wel. You do not need to have a BM present at the wedding and as pp stated he can still be the BM. Maybe he can send a letter to be read at the Reception?

  • It is a disapointment but yes we do understand. We are going to keep our fingers crossed that he can make it. He will be in our hearts and on our minds if he can't. Thank you for your responses.

  • Instead of a tux he could just wear his dress uniform still appropriate. It may not be the right color but you wont have to worry about things being down to the wire.
