WPBP of the day

Are you good at wrapping presents?

You're at a bookstore and they're doing an xmas book drive. Quick:what books do you buy for the kids?

Something you hate about this time of year:

Does it snow where you live?

Re: WPBP of the day

  • Are you good at wrapping presents? Yes

You're at a bookstore and they're doing an xmas book drive. Quick:what books do you buy for the kids? The Orient Express, Harry Potter

Something you hate about this time of year: Being so busy

Does it snow where you live? Not usually in Santiago except every so often on the outskirts closer to the mountains, and definitely not in December Cool
  • Are you good at wrapping presents?  For sure.
You're at a bookstore and they're doing an xmas book drive. Quick:what books do you buy for the kids?  Probably just whatever books are on clearance - Borders always has a ton that are $1 or $2.
Something you hate about this time of year:  The cold.  That's really it.
Does it snow where you live? Cha, a lot!
  • Are you good at wrapping presents? I'm decent.  My mom and sister are awesome.

You're at a bookstore and they're doing an xmas book drive. Quick:what books do you buy for the kids? Roald Dahl books - the BFG, Matilda, The Twits, etc.

Something you hate about this time of year: THE COLD.

Does it snow where you live? Unfortunately.

  • Are you good at wrapping presents? Yes!  But I have to hide the presents from my cats or wait until the last minute to put ribbon on them because my cats will steal the ribbons and try to eat them. : /

You're at a bookstore and they're doing an xmas book drive. Quick:what books do you buy for the kids? Harry Potter and probably something for younger kids like Good Night Moon.

Something you hate about this time of year: I'm not sure I hate anything about this time of year.  I love the holiday spirit and all of the decorations at stores....I don't even mind the cold and snow in December.

Does it snow where you live? Yes.  I love snow!  We had some snow the other day (not enough to stick around) but it still made me so happy when I walked out of work and saw that it was snowing!

We are supposed to get our first measurable snow fall tomorrow night/Saturday morning which is a huge bummer because H and I are flying out Saturday morning for our honeymoon.  I really hope the snow doesn't impede our travel!

Are you good at wrapping presents?
Yes.  It's something I really like to do.

You're at a bookstore and they're doing an xmas book drive. Quick:what books do you buy for the kids?
I'd find books on clearance.  For baby shower presents, I give a starter library with a ton of childrens books.  I make sure to have classics in there but the rest I've found on clearance racks.

Something you hate about this time of year:
I really can't think of anything.

Does it snow where you live?
This is my fist full winter here.  When I moved in February, DH assured me that the winters here were much milder than Cleveland and then we got hit with a bizzard days later.

  • Are you good at wrapping presents? I started wrapping gifts last night and realized that I've gotten much better at it over the years...

You're at a bookstore and they're doing an xmas book drive. Quick:what books do you buy for the kids? Dr. Seuss, of course!

Something you hate about this time of year: Picking presents for my parents. I would buy them the world if I could, but I can't so I'm stuck trying to figure out something meaningful with no money. =/

Does it snow where you live? Starting in about January, though they're calling for snow this weekend!!!

Are you good at wrapping presents?
No ... um, I  actually usually pay my brother $10.00 to do all of my presents for me because it's so bad. I worked at McDonald's when I was a teenager, and I pretty much wrap gifts the way one would wrap a cheeseburger, lol.

You're at a bookstore and they're doing an xmas book drive. Quick:what books do you buy for the kids?
I love kids books! I'd probably go with the "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie" series (There's like 7 different books, all of them are great) for the younger kids, and Beverly Cleary and Judy Blume for the older ones.

Something you hate about this time of year:
I hate that my siblings will not agree to do a SS exchange. Every year I pitch the idea, every year they all turn it down. Obviously, I think the kids (My nieces and my youngest brother)  should still get gifts from everybody, but 4 of us are adults. It costs a lot even with a $20 limit to get something for everybody, and still take care of the parents, grandparents and S/Os.

Does it snow where you live?
Some years we gets tons, other years not so much. .

  • Are you good at wrapping presents? Moderately...not fantastic but I get them covered alright...
You're at a bookstore and they're doing an xmas book drive. Quick:what books do you buy for the kids? Dr. Seuss, Chronicles of Narnia (I actually want to get those for DD for Christmas), maybe some cute little board books for babies
Something you hate about this time of year: Cold and snow...I live in the wrong part of the country haha
Does it snow where you live? Yup, it's snowing now. FI has been off for the last three days :(
  • Are you good at wrapping presents? Only if they aren't round. I can't figure round gifts out.

You're at a bookstore and they're doing an xmas book drive. Quick:what books do you buy for the kids? Probably books about animals

Something you hate about this time of year: Crazy crowds in the stores

Does it snow where you live? Nope, thanksfully. I hate the snow.
  • Are you good at wrapping presents?  Decent, nothing to brag about.

You're at a bookstore and they're doing an xmas book drive. Quick:what books do you buy for the kids?  Roald Dahl, Robin McKinley, Douglas Adams.  That reminds me, I still need to pick out some books to buy for Child's Play this year.

Something you hate about this time of year:  THE COLD.  I feel like I'm going to freeze to death every morning on my bike.

Does it snow where you live?  In the mountains it does, but not around my apartment.

This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • Are you good at wrapping presents? I'm okay at it

You're at a bookstore and they're doing an xmas book drive. Quick:what books do you buy for the kids? Maybe some Junie B. Jones books, I loved them as a kid!

Something you hate about this time of year: Icy roads and below zero wind chill

Does it snow where you live? Mhhmmmm, sometimes in truckloads

  • Are you good at wrapping presents? Decent.  Better since I worked retail at Christmas.

You're at a bookstore and they're doing an xmas book drive. Quick:what books do you buy for the kids? Anything by Beverly Cleary

Something you hate about this time of year: Snarky FB messages about how Christmas is only a commercial holiday and it's just stupid.  I have a few people on my list who do that and they drive me crazy.

Does it snow where you live? Yup.

  • Are you good at wrapping presents? No, I am soo bad at it. My mom and sister are both great though so I either get them to do it or use bags.

You're at a bookstore and they're doing an xmas book drive. Quick:what books do you buy for the kids? American Girl books. I loved those growing up.

Something you hate about this time of year: The cold. And the fact that my office still hasn't decided when we are closing so I have no idea when I can go home.

Does it snow where you live? Yes, unfortunately. But I'm going home to Florida for Christmas and it will be wonderful to have warmish weather for a few days.
  • Are you good at wrapping presents? I could do it blindfolded. I've also minimized tape consumption during wrapping. I'm a machine.

You're at a bookstore and they're doing an xmas book drive. Quick:what books do you buy for the kids? If you give a mouse a cookie, anything by Shel Silverstein, everything Dr. Seuss, Boxcar Children, Lyle, Lyle Crocodile, Harold and the purple crayon, Indian in the Cupboard, well, anything by Lynne Reid Banks, American Girls books (particularly Molly, Addie, Kirsten or Felicity because their stories are the best)...um, I would apparently empty my bank account to get these kids books. I love children's literature.

Something you hate about this time of year: Yucky roads. It hasn't happened yet, but ice/snow make my commute hell. I enjoy the weather, don't get me wrong, but the roads are crap.

Does it snow where you live? Yep. In fact, we've got flurries right now. The heavy snow is usually in late December, January and February.

I love Junie B. Jones! I completely forgot about those! When I still worked in the bookstore, I used to read them when it was slow.I forget which book it was, but I still remember when she explained she had been dumped and "Dumped means 'you have to find a new Riccardo'", lol.

  • Are you good at wrapping presents?
I think so.  For Christmas I like to attach little ornaments to the presents to make them a little cuter.

You're at a bookstore and they're doing an xmas book drive. Quick:what books do you buy for the kids?
    Educational books (made for kids).

Something you hate about this time of year:
Stress.  I stress more during the November, December, January months than I do all year long.

Does it snow where you live?
No.  I've never lived where it snows.  Maybe that the reason I love snow so much.

I lived in an area where it snows my whole life, and I still love snow!  H and I and some of our friends go sledding every year after we've had a good snow fall.

However, I do know plenty of people that hate the snow.  A majority of my fb friends were complaining about it earlier this week when it was snowing.

  • @Frogut - I've been curious about where you are.  You don't have a region under your SN and I don't remember you ever saying.

    AKA GoodLuckBear14
  • I'm in IL.  The only region type thing I could select when I signed up was Chicago, and I don't live in/near Chicago, so I guess I just didn't select anything.  I'm about 3 hours south of Chicago.

  • Are you good at wrapping presents?  I'm decent.  No one's ever complained, and hey, at least I've never stuck a bunch of presents under a beach towel.  (That would be my brother.)

You're at a bookstore and they're doing an xmas book drive. Quick:what books do you buy for the kids?  The Velveteen Rabbit, Charlotte's Web, The Rebel Witch, Ella Enchanted, Where the Red Fern Grows, The Giver, and anything by Madeleine L'Engle.

Something you hate about this time of year:  It's friggin' cold!!!

Does it snow where you live?  Yes.  Though a lot less than I'm used to in my current city.

Haha yeah, he just sat there with all of the presents stacked on his lap and a giant towel over them, then handed them out one by one.
