When should I ask my friends to be my Maid of Honor/Bridesmaids?

I'm about a year-13 months from my wedding

Re: When should I ask my friends to be my Maid of Honor/Bridesmaids?

  • Set a firm, final date, then ask 6-8 months before that.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

    Ditto this.

And any time you get the urge to ask sooner than that, go lurk around the wedding party board and read story after story about wedding party remorse from asking too early.
  • Echoing what PP say: wait AT LEAST 6 months before to ask. I didn't and now I'm really regretting that decision. A LOT can change in a year.
