Stupid Capital One!

I just had a missed call from a 714 area code.  Orange County, CA.  That is where most of my mom's family is.  My grandma has not been in the best of health lately, and a missed call from there worried the crap out of me while waiting for the VM to play.  Then I heard in robot voice:

"Hi, this is Karen from Capital One.  We have some exciting opportunities for you, blah blah blah" delete.

Glad everything is ok, heart attack over.

UGH!! Stupid people all over today! I just got the most OBNOXIOUS CALL from this woman who works in the gift store

    ring ring
    -Hello?
-OHHH! (she has this squealing high pitched old lady voice) B, you're here! What a surprise!
    -...why? I work 40 hours a week?
    - Well, I thought you were on your honeymoon!!
    - Why? I'm not married yet.
    - WELL THIS IS JUST THE LONGEST ENGAGEMENT EVER!

I'm sorry?! What?! Who the hell are you? You've been working here for two flippin' months and you're telling my two year engagement is too long? Go eat worms!!

    That's not what I said. I said.
    - It's really not so long in this area but, that's beside the point. What can I help you with?

UGH! GET OUT OF MY ENGAGEMENT, ho.
  • I hate when I have missed calls from familiar numbers or local area codes, but I have no idea who called.  Freaks the crap out of me, too--and I'm bad about looking at my phone while I'm at school, so I have to wait a couple hours to listen to the voice mail usually, and just stew wondering who called.

Glad it turned out to not be a big deal :-)
  • I LOATHE capital one entirely!!!

They sent me a letter last January saying that my APR was going up to ....ready???  29.95% in December. A month to late don't yah think? If the amount I needed to pay was $100 the finance charges were $75 of that. No wonder people can't get out of debt.

I opened a new card with a 5% rate and dumped capital one. Now they send me "free checks" in the mail. All I have to do is sign and put in the amount. ummm isn't that fraud waiting to happen?
    Anniversary
  • I got one of their cards when I was 18 and, yeah, it got out of hand.  It was a $500 limit and I ended up paying it off at about $875.  Not too bad, but to "help my credit score" they offered me a different new card.  I took it and still have it, and pay it off when I do use it (now that I'm a grown up).  I need to pay it off and just get rid of it.  Along with my Old Navy and Target cards.
