Wedding Party

Flower Girl

I'm looking for some creative input. My fiance's 2 nieces and 2 nephews are the flower girls and ring bears for our wedding. There is also a 3rd niece who will only be 7 months old. I wanted to include her as an"honorary flower girl" because I wanted everyone to be included. My FSIL wants to take her down the aisle somehow, which I think would be cute. She is also my matron of honor. She said she could carry the baby, but then she won't be able to hold her bouquet. She also brought us the idea of decorating a wagon to have the ring bearers pull her in. Any other thoughts? Thanks!

Re: Flower Girl

  • Did your FSIL say that she cannot handle both the baby and her bouquet? Since moms have to juggle a baby and a diaper bag and probably a ton of other things all the time, I'm wondering if SHE thinks it'll be difficult.

You could always have the bouquet waiting up front for her ... she can carry the baby down the aisle, hand her off to her dad or a grandparent, and then join the other BMs up front and grab her bouquet.

Depending on how old the ring bearers are, I don't know if I'd trust them to pull a small child down the aisle in a wagon.

  • Get a little bouquet and let the baby carry the bouquet while momma carries baby?
Holy Crap. We survived the first year!

  • Piggybacking on Tide's suggestion, you could have every bridesmaid carry a pomander (ball of flowers with a ribbon handle) or wear a corsage. That way she just needs to carry/wear it on her wrist.

  • I like the idea of the baby holding the flowers, but I'm not sure she would hold onto them since she's so little. I don't know how it will look having mom carry a baby as she walks down the aisle, do you guys think it will look ok? Thanks! (By the way, we're getting married in park/garden, so it's an outdoor wedding)
