Davids bridal bridesmaid dresses..how long did they take to come in?

Trying to figure out how long the dresses will take to come in..

Re: Davids bridal bridesmaid dresses..how long did they take to come in?

  • I have purchased a ton of BM dresses from DB's and never had it take more than 2-3 weeks to come in.
  • All of ours came in under 3 weeks.  One got there in less than a week.

I'd plan on at least 8 weeks though, just to be safe.
  • The first two dresses took about 3 weeks to come in,  The third took three months.

  • I had one that took 6-7 weeks to come.  And when it arrived I was trying it on, the zipper busted.  The wanted ME to pay for it!  It was one of those separates things, the top wad like $69 and fixing the zipper was going to be $60.  Needless to say I was not happy and have not personally witnessed any good experiences with DB since then.  Maybe it was the 2 local ones, and maybe others are better.

  • My sister's BM dress took about 3 weeks to come in. I haven't heard from the other BM if their dress have come in yet.
  • When I was in BM's wedding, we ordered my dress from Davids Bridal 5 weeks before the wedding and picked it up 1 week before the wedding.  I was a last minute BM and she asked me 6 weeks before the wedding.  Yeah, I replaced a BM last minute.  She was one of those who picked BP a year and a half before the wedding and regretted her choice on one of the girls.  The girl ended up wanting a different style dress than everyone else and dropped out because of it, and she asked me to stand in her place.  I wasn't offended by it, because I didn't even know her when the BP was first picked.  But, luckily, we didn't have many alterations and my mom did them all.  If you're going to need alterations, also keep that in mind.
  • My girls' came in in 2 weeks even though they told us 2 months....as you can see there's lots of variation, plus you need to factor in the time for them to get any alterations done so plan on 8 weeks to be safe.

  • DB will always tell you it takes longer than it actually will (it's a good way to cover their asses), but how long it actually takes depends somewhat on the style, I think.  I know the wedding gowns are from a few different designers; I'm not sure if it's the same for the BM dresses.

On the other hand, one of my BMs had a huge delay in getting her dress because she had DB ship it directly to her apartment rather than the store, and they got the address wrong & it got shipped back to Florida & then back to NY but it was a mess for a while, and she ended up getting it about a week before the wedding, or maybe even closer to the date.  I don't remember now because it all worked out OK.  Just an FYI so you know to be careful & allow for screwups.  They happen.

They told me that my BM dresses would take about 8 weeks and that my wedding gown would take 12 weeks to come in. This was on August 3rd.

On August 7th, I got a phone call saying all of my BM dresses where in. My wedding dress arrived on October 2nd.

EDIT: I see you're in South Jersey, too, I used the one in Mays Landing if that helps at all. I would highly recommend them, the girls there were awesome to work with.

  • And remember too that David's carries a pretty decent variety of dresses in the store, and if it's getting down to the wire, they can always find another location (anywhere in the country, I think) that has it in stock in the right size and ship it over.  My wedding gown had been discontinued, but I found another local location that had it; if none of my local stores had, that would have been the next option.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • Thanks for all your help! David's bridal kept telling me like 6 months to come in.
