Wedding Party

**aerin**

Thought of you this weekend.  DH has a business trip this week (started today) at Disneyworld.  So we went down early so that I we could have a weekend together before the conference started.

Saturday went to Magic Kingdom.  First ride?  Jungle Cruise.  =)
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146

  • Aww, thanks!  How was it?  I've only been to MK once, and I know they've done a bunch of renovations since then, so it's not as dumpy now as it was back then.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • Aerin, just to remind me....where do you work again? I always think disney, and I know it's a park, but I forget which one. I'm always going to Disney. Someday, I'm going to page you and we're going to meet at the happiest place on earth!

  • It was good.  They are making changes to MK, and some of the parts are really updated, and some are still the kitchy memories that DH and I have had for years.   (We went on our HM there a LONG time ago.)  We were glad we went.

He's going to Epcot and Hollywood Studios with his group on Tues. and Wed. evenintgs, so that's why we chose MK on Saturday.

Anyway, we had a great time, and now (boo!) I'm back in NJ and he's stll there.

I really did think of you as we were riding the ride.

  • Aww, it's so sweet that you thought of me!

Stina, I used to work at the original Disneyland in California.  Put in my time for three years, and I've moved on, but a lot of my friends are still there, and we live right around the corner.  (FI actually hung out in the park yesterday while I was working a friend's wedding.)

Brooke, have fun!  They just reopened Captain EO, you should check it out.  Also, it's been raining every weekend for weeks, so dress warm and bring an umbrella.  Disneyland in the rain is the best as long as you're prepared for it.

  • Oh, I've done Disneyland in the rain.  I am a Disney nut.  I had part of my bach party at Disneyland, have been to Disneyland Paris and Tokyo Disney, and have been to Disneyland at least once a year since I was 10 :)

Ok, good to know. My extended family lives in Torrance and Irvine and my lil sis just started her second quarter at UC riverside! I can't wait to visit her and go to the parks! I used to LOVE Capt. EO and can't wait to see it again.

I have also done Dland in the rain. There was pretty much NO ONE in Fantasy land....no line for Peter Pan in fact! Amazing!

And speaking of jungle cruise...my family has a tradition. We always do the Jungle Cruise at night. It's my dad's fave disney ride.

Can you believe that Indiana Jones is 15 years old?

  • Oh, the jungle is totally different at night.  Some of my favorite jokes only work at night.  I had my spotlights down to an art when I was there.

You know, I've never seen Captain EO.  I think I might duck into the parks for a bit this weekend and check it out.  FI saw it for the first time on Sunday, and said that the message of the movie is, "Michael Jackson makes the world a happier, gayer place."

It's crazy that Indy is 15 years old!  One of my friends was on opening crew for that ride way back when.  My sister got to ride it the first summer it opened on a school trip, back when the line regularly topped four hours.  Wild.  I think that's the costume I miss most, it flattered pretty much everyone.
