Wedding Party

Gift idea WIN!

I was brainstorming with my sister about ideas for a gift for my dad, since he and my stepmom just separated and all of the ideas I had were very "couple-ish" (nice dinner, movie tickets, night in a hotel).  Sis suggested getting him a voucher for Southwest, since Dad lives in Phoenix and us kids are scattered all over the place.

Sure enough, Southwest sells gift cards on their website, and shipping is cheap.  Done and done.

Just thought I'd toss this onto the pile of "useful and non-crappy gift ideas."

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

I love it! That is so great.

I have no idea what I am getting FI for his wedding gift. OR my parents. I think I know what my present is though. I'm such a bad spy!!!
  • You already know what you're getting and the wedding is over a year away....I don;t think I'd be able to handle that.

I think I know. I don't know if he will be able to find it, but I accidentally opened his web browser so I know he's looking for it! He knows I have always wanted a Chanel bag like the one my Nana had. My dad can't find the one that belonged to her, but he's seen a picture. And EBay was up. I know! I'm bad. I really hope he finds it though...
  • I just wish I could figure out if we're exchanging gifts for the wedding or not.  I always get really anxious about reciprocal gift giving, because I don't want either myself or the giver to feel bad for giving less than the other.  That's why I'm glad my birthday is a couple of weeks before his, so I have something to go by.

Little sis also clued me in to my mom's favorite hotel, where I'm going to try to get them a voucher.  (It's too pricey for me to afford a full night's stay, but I can at least offset the cost.)  I feel like I should send her some chocolates or something for figuring out the rest of my gifts for me.
