  • Who are you celebrating with? This year will jkust be FI and I. His father decided last night not to come, even after we bought his non-refundable plane ticket. That's whole other story.

Are you cooking the turkey? I am making cornish hens. I am allergic to Turkey

What are you most thankful for? I am thankful for a wonderful Fiance and that we are both employed and are able to have food on our table this Thanksgiving, as I know others who are struggling.

Favorite thing to eat on Tday? Sweet potatoes, in any form. They were .19/lb when I went shopping so we now have 8lbs of sweet potatoes in our house. Good thing they keep well, since it will just be the 2 of us!

  • Who are you celebrating with?  Fi and my parents - we are hosting in our new home.

Are you cooking the turkey?  Yes, with help from FI and my mother - I have never done a turkey before!

What are you most thankful for?  Family, friends, good health, steady employment, the roof over our heads, life is good. Lots to be thankful for.

Favorite thing to eat on Tday?  Everything!! Turkey smothered in gravy, stuffing, the desserts. And shrimp with cocktail sauce - I never eat that any other time of the year.
The Bump ate my signature. DD - Apr 2011 DS - expected June 2013

  • Who are you celebrating with? T-day with my family, then the weekend with FI's family.

Are you cooking the turkey? No, thank goodness!

What are you most thankful for? That FI and I both still have jobs.  It's been a rough year.

Favorite thing to eat on Tday?  Pumpkin pie with cool whip. Or maybe cool whip, with pumpkin pie.  (or real whip cream, nom.)

  • Who are you celebrating with? FI's extended family in the morning, then heading to my parents' in the afternoon.

Are you cooking the turkey? I'm cooking A turkey, because we bought one for a dinner party that fell through. So I'm cooking it for us so that we have leftovers.

What are you most thankful for? Aside from loved ones' health ... having a job!

Favorite thing to eat on Tday? turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy

  • Who are you celebrating with? FI's family, my host family and their current exchange students...an eclectic group. And we're doing it Sunday since Thursday's a normal work day here.

Are you cooking the turkey? Nope, host mom does that every year (this is our third). I do all the sides.

What are you most thankful for? FI and our dog. We just have a really good life with each other, and honestly almost every day I am consciously aware of that, which is a great feeling.

Favorite thing to eat on Tday? My aunt's garlic mashed potatoes swimming in gravy...I've got the potatoes down, but her gravy's still better

And CTGirl, my family does shrimp with cocktail sauce too!
  • Who are you celebrating with? It was just going to be FI and I, but we went to dinner with his family on Sunday night, and they kind of guilted him into going.  My stepmom's family lives a couple of hours from me, so my dad is spending Thursday with them and coming to see us later in the weekend.

Are you cooking the turkey? FI was going to cook duck, but it looks like we're going to be having his stepmom's turkey.  She's not the greatest cook, so I'm a bit apprehensive.  (FI got a free turkey from work, so we'll probably cook that up at some point soon, if we can figure out a way to deep fry it.)

What are you most thankful for? That I have a good job and a wonderful fiance.  And that I'm getting a PS3 on Friday.

Favorite thing to eat on Tday? Tie between cranberry sauce and black olives.  Olives had always been a holiday thing for us, getting to college and learning I could get them on the salad bar whenever I like was a fantastic discovery.

This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • 1) We always split between my grandma and his sister for the holidays. I tend to get a little annoyed with the split, because it's rarely fair to my family (We arrive at grandma's at 3, then leave a 4:30 to make his sister's 5:00 dinner-which she has offered on multiple occasions to push back this time since she knows we hit my fam, too-then we proceed to stay at his sister's until 11 pm.) I honestly wouldn't mind the unequal time so much if FI were willing to "trade off" and maybe let my family get more time with us on Christmas or Easter or something, but he does this with every frickin' holiday.

    2) No ... and I honestly have no intention of EVER cooking the turkey.

    3) FI works in banking, I work in Insurance, so I'm thankful for the fact that we both work for companies that manage to NOT totally tank in this economy

    4) I've only had this once, but deep-fried turkey. I thought it was the most delicious thing ever.

"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • Who are you celebrating with?

All the nurses and patients on my unit:) I will head up the FI's folks' house on Friday to be with them, his grandparents, and our kids.

    Are you cooking the turkey?

No, I don't care for turkey. FMIL will make one, and a chicken that I will eat.

What are you most thankful for?

It's hard to chose something I am most thankful for... So I am going to say my health (which was recently a concern) and a life, friends, family, and love that make health worth having.

Favorite thing to eat on Tday?

Pie. Pecan, Pumpkin, Chocolate... IF it's pie, I love it. Except apple and cherry.
