Medical issue, maybe TMI

Ok, I know this is NOT a medical board....but I am comfy here. I am having a problem with Aunt Flo. I am on the pill and have been on said pill for 6 years. I am not always the best with taking it at the same time of day everyday. Yes, I know, bad panda!

Second week of blood free, my period starts. And it goes for 7 days. My rags usually last 3 days tops. It's also heavier than normal. After 7 days of weird second period this month, it stops for 2 days. Then it returns again. Which brings us up to today....and my REAL period is supposed to start in 3 days. I know this is NOT normal, but has anyone else experienced this?

I called the gyno last week and she said it was "normal" but seriously, having 3 period in one month is anything BUT normal. I am going to call her again tomorrow. TIA and sorry for the gross out.

Re: Medical issue, maybe TMI

  • I tried to switch to one of the low level bcps after having libido issues for years on other pills.  I had my period three times that month.  Obviously, that was more than enough, and I immediately switched to another type (and eventually ended up with Mirena).  Not being good at taking them at the same time every night is defintely a good way to get random periods, but if this is the first time it's happened, I would go see the gyno.  And invest in a type of BCPs where you don't have to take the pill every day.

Stina, you are definitely not a bad person for thinking you'd rather it be a miscarriage, that's why you're on BC and if something messed up, something messed up. I just felt the need to say that.

I was on Seasonale for like 2 years, a year and a half in, I got my period early, I thought it was stress from school, but my period didn't stop for 3 months. (I went to the Dr after 2 weeks, and got of the pill and still had 3 months worth of periods)
Well, come to find out, I should have never been on BC because of neurological reasons and the estrogen was making my body freak the eff out. And it took a year and a half for any consequences to show for it!

    GL with the doctor today!
  • I don't have anything to add, but I hope the dr can give you some good advice - sounds inconvenient at least and kind of scary at worst. I am definitely the type to think "ok, so I KNOW I'm not dying, and I'm sure it's nothing serious, but omgwhatifi'mdying?!"

And this has encouraged me to take the pill at the same time every day (it's usually within the same hour, but weekends throw me off without the routine of work), so your TMI has done a public service :)

[QUOTE]Sometimes BC does some weird things to your period.  When I had the Depo shot I had my period for almost month straight.  The doctor said it was normal when you first start a new BC but it should work itself to normal.  But I don't know if it happens after being on it for six years.  I'm sure everything is fine but I'll still cross my fingers for you.

I hated Depo, it made me BSC for those couple months!  And an almost constant period.  I have trouble with BCP, I was on estrostep for a couple years and only got my period every few months, and then the same with yaz the past 2 years.  It's nice to not get a period, but scary too.  Haven't had one since Nov, but went to the gyno for annual last week and not prego.  She just put me on the ring, so we'll see how that goes.

Hope it all works out ok for you.
