Wedding Party

Parent Gifts

I've been very indecisive about what to get our parents as gifts for the wedding day. I need some input! Did you get a gift for your parents? If so, what did you get?

Re: Parent Gifts

  • We'll be making each set of parents an album after the wedding and giving it to them then.

  • We're probably doing parents' albums as well.
  • We are doing parent's albums too. But I wanted to try to think of some way to present that as a gift at the rehearsal dinner, or get them something else to give at the RD. Ideas?
  • You know your parents better than we do. ;-) What do they like?

Are they type that go out to dinner? Resteraunt gift card so they can have a nice date night...do they have a hobby they share? (are they golfers, for example...)
Maybe your mom would like a spa day and your dad would like tickets to a game...

What would you buy them for Christmas?

  • I got my dad cufflinks and plan to find a piece of jewelry for my mom. And I'm sure we'll give them an album at some point.

  • We got both sets of parents albums but we also got them little things at the RD. DH got his mom a necklace with a baby and mommy pearl on it, got his dad photos, I got my mom photos, and my dad mac cufflinks.

    My Planning Bio
My Married Bio updated March 4
  • We're getting them parent albums, which will probably be their Christmas gift.  At the RD, we're planning on giving them all tickets to see a Cirque du Soleil show while they're in Vegas.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • We're doing albums. I want to get my dad something extra since he's footing the bill, but I haven't totally decided what yet - a book on Chilean birds is in the running, since last time he visited I remember him liking one that had nice photos.
  • We did albums and digital photo frames after we got our photos, but we wanted to give them something the day of as well, so I did a Wedding Tree, with all the guests on it and had prints framed for them to open at the reception. Both sets of parents loved theirs, and spent a lot of time searching guests out on it.

I took each guest and made a "leaf" for his or her name, and assigned a color for DH's side and for my side. It was a hit! PIB
