How long has your BM's mother been under the impression that she's going?

She may have made plans around coming, so I'd say give your mother a heads up about the situation, and let her attend. And just because she came once doesn't mean she should expect to be invited the next time you ladies go.

It's so weird to me that your friend would invite her mother. Why would she think that would be appropriate?  It might cause awkwardness with your friend if you tell her you don't want her to go now, so just let her come this time.

Give your family a heads-up, let the friend's mom come this time, then it's only your family from this point out.

It's fairly unlikely that you'll find your dress on the first shopping trip anyway. Even if you do, you'll probably want to take one or two other trips and try on other things just to be sure. And then there's always the fittings afterward. This won't be your only shot.
