Wedding Party

need some help with bridemaids **LONG**

i am so tore on what i should do!

i have origionally planned on 4 BMs and a JR BM (she is 9 and in a wheel chair, so she will have to be pushed down the aisle) and he has 4 GMs. the BMs were 2 of my friends and my 2 sisters. my sister came straight out and told me she couldnt afford to buy the dress, that she was supposed to get married and that didnt happen (her wedding never came up until we announced our engagement. the wedding date changed 3 different times and she didnt know the name of the church she was getting married in. although i hope she does get married and has a happy life with her husband, i think it was somewhat made up) and if i couldnt give her more time, she didnt know what to tell me, other than to find a new BM. did she want me to change the date of the wedding??

i did replace her (as horrible as that sounds) and i also replaced my a friend who stepped down because she didnt feel we were close enough anymore to hold the position as a BM.

this past week my other sister broke into my house and stole some wedding money from me. i confronted her about it and of course i am a b*ith and "screw my wedding" and "i am nothing to her"  "she wants reimbursed for her BM Dress" and quite frankly i do not want her to be part of my wedding anyhow if she's going to be so disrespectful.

so here's the tough part, i have a cousin or a friend i would like to have as part of the wedding. should i ask one of them or do i come back and ask the sister who already told me to replace her. i will hurt more feelings if i dont give her this chance AGAIN but i feel she has had her chance. or should i just have 3 BMs and a Jr BM to go with his 4 GM.

we have less than 7 weeks until the wedding. any "replacement" will have to order her dress (from an online site) today so it will be here in time and can be altered.

thanks in advance for the advice and comments!!

  • I'm sorry that your relationship with your sister is not what you would like it to be.

It's okay to have uneven sides in the WP.  I would not replace her with anyone.

  • Don't replace anyone.  At this late date it would scream "hey, I need a body to fill this position" and I don't think you want to do this.

It is none of my business and I don't know the backstory but I hope you are not inviting the sister who broke into your house and stole your money.  If she will steal from you and tell you that you are nothing to her, she will  most likely steal from  your guests while they are on the dance floor.
  • I would not replace anyone. It's too bad that your other sister stole from you, and I totally understand why you wouldnt want her in it any more, but maybe you could try to work something out with your other Sister. Perhaps offer to cover half the cost of the dress with her? If what's done is done, then you need to move forward with what you have, but if you think you still want her in it, than try to compromise to help her out.
    Good Luck!

  • No one wants to be a slot filler.  Just leave it uneven.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

Just leave it as is. Stop replacing people.

Can you call the 9-year-old a bridesmaid instead of a junior bridesmaid? She would probably get a kick out of being considered the same as the 'big girls'.
