Wedding Party

I hate lesson plans!

Sorry, just venting.  I am taking my students to a conference next week and have to make sub plans.  I hate doing this for 1 day, and now I have to do 3 days.  1 day I can do bozo work like crosswords and videos, but with 3 they lose too much time.

On the flip side, I am taking 1/2 my students with me, so there are 3/6 classes I don't have to make plans for.

My brain is fried :)

Re: I hate lesson plans!

  • I feel your pain!  I also hate doing lesson plans when I know I'm going to be out for multiple days.  Even if I have a sub teach a lesson, I have to reteach it when I return since very few kids "get it."  It's at these times that I wish I had a job where my work just piled up on my desk when I'm not there.
  • I am with you!  Even when I do leave plans the subs don't even do them or don't do them right!  I spend hours making them as detailed as possible to the point where a monkey could teach the lesson and then they still don't even do them!  Next year I'm going to make sure I recruit a sub that I know to cover me when I take time off for the wedding.  Very frustrating!
  • I usually have an awesome sub who has a teaching degree in my subject and actually student taught at this school a few years ago.  I know she knows all the stuff and I can leave her with actual lessons.  Problem- she had to go and have a baby saturday, so now she can't sub for me, and it's back to the bozo work.

  • Ladies, since I know you two are teachers, I need you to back me up.  My fiance and I just got engaged.  Both of my cousins just had babies and are tentatively planning wedding for next year.  I am a teacher and have a limited time frame of when I can get married and miss school without getting a sub.  I have planned my wedding 3 weeks from one of their "tentative" dates and they are being hateful.  I should just go ahead and they will get over it.  Right?
  • It really depends on your circles.  If you can plan outside of a tentative date it's great and preferred by family.  If not - everyone will deal in their own way.
