  • What's one of your favorite things about summer? My birthday, the heat, sandals...
Are you close to the ocean or a lake? We're close to the ocean. Coney Island.
What's your favorite water sport? I really like inner tubing. Although it's not really a sport, I have really fond memories of my dad driving his boat around and trying to flip the inner tube with us on it.
Favorite ice cream flavor: Right now it's Turkey Hill's Party Cake. It has bits of cake and frosting in it.

Are you close to the ocean or a lake? Ocean -- really not too many serious lakes in CT, more like ponds.

What's your favorite water sport? Don't really have one.

Favorite ice cream flavor: It varies...right now I'm seriously into Trader Joe's chocolate mochi ice cream.  Reminds me of college.

Because it's AWESOME. :-)  Actually, I don't even like chili, so I just have plain hot dogs or salad at Skyline, but I'm still there probably once a week. And Graeters is fantastic :-)

I actually never want to try to the "chili" at skyline, as, to put it delicately, it can cause some immediate digestive malfunction (which they insist is worth it). One them even tried to bring it back on a plane. Chili fail. I guess they eat the chili of spaghetti? I don't understand the mysteries of the Skyline Diner. :)

Are you close to the ocean or a lake? I can walk to the bay from my house, the ocean is physically 2 miles away, but I actually have to drive almost a 1/2 hour to get to it.
What's your favorite water sport? I like canoeing and tubing. I'm very lazy with my sports.

They tried to bring it on a plane...like, in a bowl?  I can imagine that would be a chili fail. :-)  It is possible to buy it in cans at grocery stores here.

It is eaten on spaghetti!  There are 3,4,5-ways--the 3-way is just spaghetti, chili, and cheese on top.  Then you add beans or onions to get to 4 and 5 ways.  To me, all that sounds disgusting (which may get me kicked out of Cincinnati) but I do LOVE Skyline dip, which is cream cheese/chili/cheese baked in the oven and eaten with tortilla chips.  Yum.  :-)

Stomach problems will definitely occur if you're not used to it. It is pretty delicious and is great drunk food. The chili is more of a meat sauce than a chili chili.

What's one of your favorite things about summer?
All of it.  I love flip flops, sundresses, the pool, margaritas, the beach, everything.

Are you close to the ocean or a lake?
There are a couple of lakes nearby, but I might go to a lake maybe once or twice a year.  I normally hang out at the pool and plan a trip to the beach.

    What's your favorite water sport?
I don't have one.  I like beach/pool volleyball, riding a jetski, but mostly just floating around on a raft.  Oh, and sometimes we go up to the mountains and go tubing down this stream.  So fun!

    Favorite ice cream flavor:
Fried ice cream (it's a flavor from Bryers or someone)

Can't speak for the southern states, or even all of NJ, but in my particular area, the ocean is frigid, even in August when it gets just as hot as Florida outside. I think it's got something to do with the Long Beach Island being 6 miles away from the rest of the state, but either way, the water's never warmer than 65.

When I went to Florida, someone said the Atlantic was warmer than the Pacific.  We put our feet in and it was still pretty damn cold!  Apparently it's like 4 degrees warmer.  Who knows the difference between 4 degrees?!

  • Both the beaches in CA and NY area are freezing. Like wetsuit cold.

I can say that I've also swam on both sides of the Pacific and yes, both are equally cold!

The only warm beach I've been in is Hawaii....oh and Fiji wasn't bad...the water was about 79 degrees.

    I like Florida beaches.
  • What's one of your favorite things about summer?  The beach!!  The water is really warm in SC.  VA Beach is warm too.

Are you close to the ocean or a lake? We're about 3 hours from the ocean.  There's probably a lake closer, but I don't like lakes.

What's your favorite water sport? Kayaking.

Favorite ice cream flavor: currently, store-brand organic strawberry.
  • Jenn- how can you not like lakes?!  The ocean has big scary animals that can eat you!

  • Lakes don't have waves.  Waves make things fun so ocean = fun.  And the river has a current.

I don't worry about anything eating me at the beach, and I love Shark week on the Discovery Channel.  I do worry about mosquitos near lakes though.
