Introduction Post

So, since this board is fairly new, I thought it would be a good idea for an introductory post. Since I signed up for TK, I was hoping to get help on inter-religious ceremonies. I hope that you all can help me in my planning process, and of course, it would be great if I can help any of you.

First Name of yourself and your FI:
How long have you been engaged:
Wedding Date:
Wedding Colors:
Ceremony Site:
Reception Site:
Honeymoon Destination:
What are your religions (you and your FI):

Of course, feel free to add anything else you would like to share. =)

First Name of yourself and your FI:  C & S (we keep a low profile)
How long have you been engaged:  Engaged 13 mos. Married 6 mos
Wedding Date: 09-25-2010  (got addicted to weddings)
Wedding Colors: Primarily Navy and Gold but touches of yellow, cobalt, orange, light green, and sky blue.
    Ceremony Site:  Historic Ballroom Balcony
    Reception Site:  Historic Ballroom
Honeymoon Destination:  Big Island and Maui (Hawaii)
What are your religions (you and your FI):  Episcopal (non-practicing) and Reform Jewish.

The trick is to really, really work with your officiant and say "no" to the interfering families.  Periodically, they stopped talking to us which made things much quieter (at least temporarily).

Good advice. The only problem is saying "no" to the interfering families.

First Name of yourself and your FI: Danielle & Ned
How long have you been engaged: Sunday Before Thanksgiving 2010
    Wedding Date: May 29, 2011
Wedding Colors: Shades of purple and a little maroon
Ceremony Site:  Historic, Turn-of-the-century Inn in Bernardsville, NJ
Reception Site: Ballroom at the inn
Honeymoon Destination: Hawaii (Kauai & Maui)
What are your religions (you and your FI):  I am a secular Jew who dropped out of Hebrew school in 2nd grade, but was a member of USY in high school, so caught up on the basics.  FI is a non-practicing/agnostic Episcopalian.

We've decided to use a Civil Celebrant to officiate our ceremony so that we won't have to stress too much about religion, but we will probably incorporate some of the non-religious traditions into the ceremony (breaking glass, secular ketubah).

    Wedding Date: 7-30-11
    Wedding Colors: Navy & Yellow

What are your religions (you and your FI):

...we are working with a fantastic pair of officiants (my parish priest and a rabbi we found online) to create an interfaith ceremony.  We have definitely had a few bumps along the way, but we are learning a lot about ourselves and each other in the process.

Yep, us too. It's a huge learning experience for us. And to be honest, I think it has made us much closer on a personal level.
