Music on iPod??

For my "wedding," I will only be doing the big banquet dinner, and I have been thinking about the music. Would it be totally crazy to just get a playlist together on my iPod and see if I could get the restaurant to play it throughout the evening? My family is Chinese from Vietnam, fiance is Japanese, and my best language is definitely English. I want some songs from each language. I have a list of English and Japanese songs I like, but I know nothing about Vietnamese or Chinese music. Does anyone have any popular Vietnamese/Chinese songs or artists to recommend (stuff that would be good for a wedding, of course)? For the Chinese, both Mandarin and Cantonese would be fine. I would ask my mom, but she isn't really into Vietnamese or Chinese popular culture anymore. If you have any ideas, please share! Or if anyone knows any sites where I could listen and browse (e.g., with translations), that would be great too. Here's a site for anyone who likes Japanese music. http://www.jpopasia.com/ A site like this, but in V/C, would be exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks so much!

what type of guests will you have at your wedding? is it mostly your side? his side? your friends? whichever is the majority, i would cater to them.  we had similar circumstances for our wedding. i'm cambodian and my husband is chinese. to compromise and be fair to both cultures, we had a live band AND alternated by playing songs from the IPOD. we did this with good intentions and high hopes..but when the day of the wedding came around, it didn't work out that well. as it turned out, everyone LOVED the band (even the chinese guests who normally don't dance, got up and danced) and they didnt mind the noise level at all.  when we switched to the ipod, all our guests sat down and moped. they really wanted the party hoppin! when we played ipod songs for too long, our guests ended up leaving early and didn't get to dance as long..they were disappointed.and i'm disappointed that they couldn't enjoy themselves longer.so my advice is to play whatever keeps your guests happy (and the party jumpin!)
