Chinese Weddings

SCAL Chinese Banquet Locations

Hello Fellow Knotties!

I normally post on the LA Boards, but knew this was the perfect forum for my question.

Just wanted to get some feelers out there on some recommendations of some nice places (with good food of course!) in the SCAL area that do chinese wedding banquets.

All your advice is greatly appreciated! TIA!

Re: SCAL Chinese Banquet Locations

This was my search for Chinese Restaurant for Wedding banquets/reception in the LOS ANGELES/Alhambra/Monterey Park area.

888 Restaurant (Rosemead) - Can fit 700 ppl, but for a party of 350-400 guests, they would only give us HALF of the room. It looks very squish and crammed to fit 40 tables in that half of a room.

NBC Seafood (Monterey Park) - Parking is great. Grand dinning room can fit between 42-44 tables (including stage area for 44, 42 without stage).

MPV Seafood (Alhambra): Never found it

Empress Harbor (Monterey Park): Had dim sum there and the restaurant has a low ceiling. The dining hall can accomodate 50 tables (I believe). I know when I asked between 35 & 40 tables, he told us that it would be fine. Dim Sum is very yummy! Parking was good.

Capital Seafood (Monterey Park): Since its been remodeled, it looks great. Parking is the worse there because of Ranch 99. Had dim sum & chinese wedding banquet dinner. Both okay.

Sea Empress (Gardena): No go. Too small. Max of 10 tables

Lunasia (Alhambra): Too small. Can only fit 20 tables

Ocean Star (Monterey Park): Underground parking is small, outside parking is decent. Tall ceiling, max of 70 tables. Great food, dim sum is yummy.

Mission 261 (San Gabriel): Couldn't find/ could of been closed down

Triumphal Palace (Alhambra): Same as Lunasia

Sea Harbor (?): Too small. Can only accomodate 20 tables. Family members has mentioned that their food is yummy.

Furiwa (Garden Grove): Great Reviews, Never gone on location to check it out.

    -----------

As for San Diego area, they are only three restaurants.

Jasmine Restaurant - Tall ceiling, food is okay (for banquet) Pricey

Emerald Restaurant - Food is good, LOW ceiling and very limited parking. Pricey

Ly's Garden - Food is okay, TALL ceiling, large dance floor, can accomodate 30+ tables. Parking is fine

Mission 261 is alive and well. It is located at 261 S. Mission Drive, San Gabriel CA 91776 (between Mission Road and Las Tunas Dr).  They have a great atmosphere and huge dance floor, but require a $6,000 minimum on weekdays, not sure about weekends. Very expensive!
