Chinese Weddings

Asking for money in a chinese wedding!!

Hi everyone,
I recently got married and we really just needed money more than anything (instead of random gifts) so I signed up for this wedding registry website called Upon our Star (www.uponourstar.com).  Basically your guests can choose to contribute to an activity or a big item (like our honeymoon!) but at the end of the day, we get the cash!  So its a very nice way of asking for money without being too pushy (u know how chinese families are!!  haha)

It worked well for us....we just cashed out a few weeks ago!  Yay!

Good luck!
Amy

This seems really, really tacky to me. Don't most Chinese people give cash anyway?

You've only made three posts and they are all about this gawd-awful idea of a website. Reported VENDOR.

I have  a Chinese family but I don't know "how they are" either... could you clarify?

My Chinese family would never give money on a website. This is a horrible idea. And yes, you sound like a vendor.

wow..you gals are quick to call em' out...good call. First time actually posting and on the cultural wedding boards. This vendor obviously doesn't know about the chinese culture that's why they posted that.

This website seems like such a terrible idea... I thought it was someone scamming for money for a sec.
