marriage license question

For those of you that have already been married in Bexar County - when we apply for our marriage license, will we get it right on the spot, or is there some turnaround time (other than the 72-hour wait period before we can be married)? Thanks!

    You get the license to hand to the offciant/judge, who will then send it back to the state for it to be entered into the court records as a marriage. Then they send it back to you..

    I got married on Sat and do not have the docs back. Wish I did, because I would like to get my name offcially changed on all my documents. Makes cashing checks in my married name a little tough. :)

    So you have to have the returned marriage license before you change your name?  Did they tell you how long it would take?
