DIY ketubah??

I have been searching online for a ketubah that is both beautiful and inexpensive and I'm finding that there is very little selection.  The less expensive ketubot are either very plain (just text) or the art isn't very good.  Do you know if under jewish law we can make our own ketubah?  I have a friend who is an artist that could design something for me....or I could even find a design I like and make something on the computer with the correct text.  Just wondering if you know anything about this! TIA!

So long as the Hebrew or Aramaic text is acceptable to your rabbi, this should work.  I would suggest having him or her proof it before you finalize the ketubah.Another alternative is to look at eBay.  [url=http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38&_nkw=ketubah&_sacat=See-All-Categories]There are always ketubot for sale there, typically for under $50[/url].  They didn't work for us, because even with the "egalitarian" ones, the Hebrew is in the masculine, which didn't work when there were two brides.  However, they would work for a straight marriage.

On Ketubah.com they have some where the text is in the middle and the rest of it (all around the text) is white, for your own artwork or design.
