Check: Ketubah Framing

We just took our ketubah over to the person who will be doing the framing last night.  She helped us pick out a gold frame, a gorgeous dark blue suede mat, a lighter blue mat to go under the first mat, and a gold fillet to go between the two mats.  We have now ordered all the materials.  We'll have the whole thing framed, except for putting the glass over it, before the ceremony.  That way, we don't risk any of the witnesses signing in an area that will be covered by the mat, and we can put the glass on as soon as we get back home.I'm really excited to see how all the colors are working together!

wow, that sounds beautiful. We're waiting for our ketubah to come in... not sure what we're going to do with it... maybe just sign it and give it to a trustworthy person to bring it back to our place after the wedding... oy, more to think about :)

Normally, the ketubah arrives rolled up in a tube.  At a minimum, you probably want to get a couple of pieces of acid-free foam core, put the ketubah between them, and weigh it down with books or something to flatten the ketubah out.  Having the ketubah mostly framed before it is signed a) helps to protect the ketubah from damage, and b) ensures that none of the signatures will run into the area that will eventually be covered by matting.
