Ketubah (ornamental/floral)

Hi everyone,

I know there a million ketubah posts, and some of them have been helpful, but I am having trouble.  My fiance and I want a custom-made ketubah, and we love the ornamental/floral designs.  We visited an artist in NYC yesterday and fell in love with a version of this design:  http://theketubah.com/originals/ornament/ostiano.html, but as you can see, this custom design runs close to $4K.

We are looking for something less expensive but similar.  I just contacted another artist because I like some of her designs (http://customketubah.com/gallery/floral32.htm), but I'm just reaching out to see if anyone has any recommendations for ketubah artists, anywhere in the country, who will do this type of custom work.  I have poured over Etsy but am not finding these types of designs.

Many thanks!

Carla

Re: Ketubah (ornamental/floral)

  • What is your budget?  Our ketubah was a gift to us from the artist, but I think she normally charges around $2k.
  • Your links didn't work for me.

My ketubah came from Mickie Caspi and I love it. She has several floral designs... mine is floral and Tree of Life inspired.

    Here is mine:

  • Oh and it cost $350 I think.

  • Hi Carla,

I feel for you. I have been having a really tough time tracking down a ketubah artist. As the ketubah is extremely important to my fiancé and me, we have been quite critical of everyone we’ve seen. We’ve had trouble finding someone who cares equally and passionately about the process, product, history, and personal significance of the ketubah. After a long, grueling search I think I’ve finally found the perfect artist. Her name is Brooke Borg and she has a fine arts background. (Something I think that is unique and valuable) She’s really interested in applying that fine arts background to the ketubah, strives to bring people together with her art, and is interested in exploring beauty as a source of the sacred. I’m literally beaming as I write this post!

    Here’s her blog

I highly recommend getting in touch

    Good luck!

I love her work, she can do anything you want or she can just customize one of her designs here.  If you contact her, please tell her you got her name from Jessica and Steve.  She is based in NYC and if you are local she will meet with you in person to show you some work.  We are planning to use one of the designs we've seen on her page, but she is going to add our little dog in somewhere!

  • Here is a picture of our custom made floral ish ketubah. It was a gift from the artist, but the most expensive one (which we did not get) was around $1000, so it should be well under the $4000 you said you were quoted.

The bottom part was custom created for us (H proposed at Buckingham Fountain in Chicago, whichis what the picture is of).

My favorite part was since the artist is Israeli, we wrote our ketubah text in English, had our rabbi approve it, and then he translated it for us.
