I'm a non-practicing Jew marrying a man who doesn't follow any religion. Judiasm is important to my father, and I like traditions. We want to be married under a chuppah.
We found a great outdoor venue that has what we considered a built-in chuppah. The top is laden with wood and is held up with pillars... 6 pillars. I researched later and found that chuppahs traditionally have 4.
I'm hoping someone here has more knowledge of Jewish symbology than I do. My dad said we could probably just decorate 4 of the pillars. Now I'm wondering if a wooden covering is ok, or if it has to be cloth. Anyone know?
