Ketubah ideas

Ok so my fiancé and I are having trouble finding a Ketubah that we like. We have looked on a gazillion websites and cannot find one we like. We are very big into artwork but not the type of artwork found on most ketubahs. We believe if we are spending that kind of money and want to hang it, it should fit our tastes. We have this one artist that we buy canvas prints from all the time and thought about maybe buying one of his prints and having a calligrapher write the traditional phrases on there. (we also thought about commissioning the artist to do something for us but it will cost $$$$ as opposed to $200. What do you think about that idea? Also I am kinda hesitant bc his stuff is worth a good amount of money and feel awful writing on his print but then again it would be special and we wouldn't be selling it anyway. I would love to hear other people's thoughts.

My FI and I had the same problem...have you checked out Judaica stores in the area or just online Ketubah stores?

We had a ketubah made for us by a family friend (her gift to us, but I think they are pricey, although not sure how it would compare to what you're considering).  http://www.kuvinoren.com/gallery/wedding-contracts.html
I actually haven't seen it yet, but my parents have it and said it's awesome.  We met with her and discussed our interests, colors and styles that we liked, and she did a custom design.

We got ours on etsy. I looked at every ketubah site and I didn't like any of them. We got a papercut ketubah from this vendor: http://www.etsy.com/shop/jerise?ref=pr_shop. She was able to make a custom design for us. Maybe you can find an artist on etsy that fits your tastes?

Our wedding has a very specific "look" and I couldn't find anything that really fit our style or colors. I didn't want to pay a fortune to have somebody make one, so in the end, I decided to make the ketubah myself. I found this diy pdf from Tsilli Pines at http://www.newketubah.com/pdf/DIYketubah.pdf and used one of her texts, and then did the rest as a layout in photoshop and printed it on recycled chipboard to match our invitations.

We are getting our ketubah from http://www.artbybatya.com. Batya makes beautiful custom ketubot! She works closely with each couple, incorporating their interests and unique relationship into her designs. We are very excited :)
  • <div>We LOVE our ketubah from Stephanie Adler (<a href="http://adlerdesigns.com/)." rel="nofollow">http://adlerdesigns.com/).</a>  Her ketubahs can be found on many sites, like ketubahs.com, but I contacted her directly and she was unbelievably easy to work with.  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!<span style="white-space:pre;" class="Apple-tab-span"> </span></div><div>

The Ketubah is signed by the groom in front of two witnesses, about half an hour before the Chuppa. Since this is a "close up" photo op, there are a few things that can elevate it to become great memorable photo:

Manicure – make your palm representative (also useful tip if you change rings during the ceremony)

Cufflinks - There are numerous styles including novelty cufflinks, traditional cufflinks, contemporary cufflinks, utility cufflinks, and humorous cufflinks (a nice idea is to specially design monogrammed cufflinks with you initials)

Pen  bring you lucky pen (if you have any) or representable pen (if anyone asks, it can be a lovely engagement present idea)
