Men's Wedding Band help!

I don't know what kind of ring to get my FI, I want him to have a nice ring but I'm on a budget but I want the ring to be a little heavy(some of the men's wedding bands are very light). He plays with dogs, horses, he works on cars so he needs something sturdy. Ladies I need some suggestions please!!!

Re: Men's Wedding Band help!

  • FI's getting a yellow gold (14K I think) comfort fit 5mm band. Very plain, but classic and he loves it. Not too bad price wise either - especially compared to my rings.
  • Check out triton:

It's tungsten carbide, heavy and super affordable. The ones without diamonds are better for budgets obviously. You can get these at a lot of jewlers.
They range from $200 to $700+.

FI picked a tungsten ring from JVL Jewelry, we paid $25 for it with the code BRIDES. It's pretty heavy too and it won't get scratched up.

This is probably what we are doing, too.  It's the kind of ring FI wants anyway, and they have the style he likes; we're going to get him sized and have him try on a couple tomorrow to ensure it's what he wants to wear.

  • We got FI a tungsten ring too. Very sturdy, scratch resistant, heavy. It was about $400 at Jared's.

  • FI and I were looking at bands for him today. I originally wanted to get him a tungsten band since he works with his hands and has broken the tips of both of his pinky fingers so I wanted something that would shatter instead of smashing down on his finger. The jeweler told me, however, that tungsten can't be resized, so if his fingers grow or shrink he'd have to get a whole new ring. She also mentioned that if it's dropped just right on a hard enough floor and it will shatter as well. Now we're leaning more towards silver. We were told they get their biggest supply in April so we will be going then to find his ring.
  • I don't remember whether FI's band is tungsten or titanium but it was about $100 and we got a little bit of a discount because his aunt is our jeweler (he had no idea when he went in looking at e-rings).  He didn't want anything too expensive and we didn't even insure it because it would probably cost more to do that than it's worth.  His problem was finding a ring that fit....he's got a size 6 finger!
  • This is what FI is getting. He's in the Army and wanted one that would last/be tough Clicky

  • I am getting FI a tungsten band from overstock. They have good reviews and are way cheaper than getting it at a ring store. (Where they mark them up a ton!)

  • My FI has a titanium band sitting in our safe upstairs (we already have our bands).  He needed something that was very strong and would not bend.  He also wanted a band that wouldn't scratch easily since he does a lot of metal work every now and then.

  • FI went with a tungsten from Triton too. He works with oil tools and does lots of metal work, so it had to be sturdy. We got him one in black tungsten with 3 diamonds. ($400 Canadian). Now both our bands are bought, mines hidden away, his should be here next month.
  • Ok thanxs ladies for some insight, I was been super busy all day today and last night TK site was down for maintenance so I couldn't reply. Men's rings are very cheap and I thought I was doing something wrong. I feel better now.
  • My FI is an engineer and he's always out working on stuff, so we decided that white gold was the best idea in case of emergency. We also didn't want to mess with the lifetime warranty stuff with the rings that can't be resized.
We're getting him a 5mm white gold flat band with brushed finish.
  • Tungsten for Overstock. His ring was the first thing I purchase two months after the proposal. He found the ring in a bridal magazine it was very inexpensive. I gave him other choices covering the prices and he still chose that one. I bought two just in case he ever lost one. I love it and can't wait for him to wear it.
