June 30 Girls

I just got a rough rough draft mock-up of my invitations -- so I'm slightly horrified that thirtieth looks incredibly like thirteenth. I had to do a double take to make sure it was the right date!

Has anyone else noticed this? Do you think any of your guests will have issues reading this word correctly? I know it seems silly, but some people are lazy readers and might read it the wrong way. We have a wedding website that makes it clear our wedding is June 30, but not all of our guests are tech savvy and may never see the website...

Anyway, this was pretty much just a vent and not really a question.... :)

Re: June 30 Girls

  • Maybe change the style of the font. It is to late to do that?

We played around with various fonts until we found something we liked. I never noticed the 30th looking like the 13th.

  • We thought of this too.  On the STD we wrote it out so it would be more clear, and have May 30 as the RSVP date, so hopefully that would help.

I would like to think people will read carefully, and not worry about it.
  • I think we've talked about this before. I can see how they look similar, but if you're paying attention, you'll figure it out.

The 13th of June is on a Wednesday, so even if they think it says 13th to begin with, most people would realize you wouldn't get married in the middle of the week, and will do a double take.
  • I think they look very similar as well. We had 06.30.12 on our save the dates and our RSVP date will be June 1, so I think people will figure it out!!! Oh and the 13th is a Wednesday- so people should figure it out!!

  • Ditto PPs, we thought about it but when we realized that the 13th was a Wednesday we figured people would figure it out. On our website it's June 30, 2012 so if people are really blockheaded they'll see it there.

On a slightly unrelated note, two months from now we'll be sending ours out!!! The wedding's getting so close!!

  • I didn't even think of that! Hopefully people will notice the Save The Dates and the website if they really question it.

I printed a copy of my invitation and thought the same thing. I know you should write out the date for the invitations, but I'm not very traditional and we liked it better with June 30, 2012 so that's what we went with
  • I picked a font that it looked ok with but i never thought it would be confusing, on others ya but not for my own. I would never put it as june 30, 2012 that is too informal. Everyone knows a saturday is not a wednesday (saturday the thirtieth of june) or least ya hope so.

  • Mine says "Saturday, the thirtieth of June". My oldest looked over it before we ordered to make sure everything easy okay (she is my copy editor as well as Moh) and said she liked it and could read everything

  • I'm not a June 30th girl, but my engagement party was this past December 30. I had almost 10 people think that it said the thirteenth. When I saw the invitation, even though I knew it was supposed to say thirtieth, I thought it said thirteenth. Of course, then I re-read it and clearly saw it said the thirtieth. Really, if people really pay attention and read (which clearly some of my guests did not), they shouldn't make that mistake.
