Help with RB

So my ten year old son is the RB for the wedding and I'm not sure what to do with him. He's probably not going to walk down the aisle - he thinks he's too big. He'll probably just walk out when FI walks out with his BM and go stand at the front. Does anyone have suggestions of how this should work? Also - he definitely doesn't want to carry a pillow - does anyone have other ideas of what if anything he should do with the rings?

Re: Help with RB

  • I would just have him stand in front of the Best Man that way he can see everything...That is what my friend did with their son. He is 5 though...He wanted to walk by himself, but he made it like 5 ft. turned around and reached for my hand & we walked down together...He stood behind the groom...the best man held the rings...
  • If he doesn't want to carry a pillow, would he be okay with carrying a ring box? They make all sorts of ring containers nowadays, lol. Otherwise, if he doesn't hold the rings, then he's really more of a junior groomsmen or usher or whatever than a RB (which is fine, I just wouldn't call him a RB if he's not going to have rings (real or fake)).

  • I agree with Bmore. If he's not really "bearing" the rings, he's not actually a "ring bearer", right?

Would he hold the rings if they're not on a pillow? They have boxes and bowls on etsy if you search for "Ring Bearer Box" or "Ring Bearer Bowl" that he could carry instead.

  • Ask what he wants to do and then go from there. Don't make him do anything he's not willing to do. You know your son best so if he says he wants to walk but don't think he'll be able to, then suggest a different way.

  • I would suggest a ring box.  FI and I bought one and his father is going to stain and woodburn it with our initials and the date on it, or at least that's what I told him and now he wants to paint it white and put gold rings on it and I'm pissed and going to be a bridezilla on this one.  But it was really cheap and you could DIY the staining easily and get a wooden box from a craft store. • Thanks for the advice everyone! I hadn't seen anything other than pillows and he's so not into that. He doesn't want to walk so I'm thinking he would be better with the Junior groomsman title. He doesn't really have to do anything for that so he's probably going to like that better.
