I don't.....David's Bridal

So, my wedding dress isn't high on my list of priorities, but I did start looking just for fun.  I have been on David's Bridal's site several times since being engaged four weeks ago and I was right next to one  (Southcenter, Washington) yesterday so I thought I'd go look at the real thing.  I informed the greeter that I have made an appointment with a consulted in a couple of weeks but  I just wanted to look at the real thing - she just pointed to my size.  I found a dress that I liked and had some questions since it was marked down I wanted to know if that meant it was a discontinued dress.  I told the lady THREE TIMES that I had some questions and after 20 minutes found another associate.  It was a Monday, and their were many more associiates than customers in the store, but all the "consultants" were busy so no one could help me try on the dress, that was in fact discontinued so I would have to be quick if that was really the dress I wanted.

I am a plus size bride and had thought that I would buy my dress from David's because of their selection in my size and their reasonable prices.  However, I am now more than happy to work with a local boutique and pay more.   Other people told me not to go to David's and I sorely wish I had never considered this second-rate experience.

Sorry you had such a bad dress shopping experience! I would highly reccomend La Belle Elaines in Seattle. I purchased my dress there a couple of weeks ago and had one of the BEST shopping experiences!  Oh and I highly reccomend Anna @ La Belle Elaine's she was so helpful and actually listened  to what I wanted.

Sorry that your experience was so bad!  I've never been a fan of David's and agree that their service is very poor.  I'm plus size also and was scared at the thought of the whole dress shopping experience.  I had some great experiences when shopping and some awful ones as well.  I recommend I Do Bridal in Wallingford - Bridget was amazing and was able to get me into several different dresses.  Victoria's in North Seattle was good.  I ditto Ballars, I had a great experience at La Belle Elaines but found their prices to be super steep.  I found my dress there but ended up buying it online from Netbride.  I highly recommend Netbride once you're ready to purchase!

I had a horrible time at Demetrio's in Bellevue - please save yourself and don't go there.

Welcome to the board and congrats on your engagement!  Don't let your experience at David's discourage you from enjoying the rest of your dress shopping.

Yah I haven't heard good things about David's either and it seems like it doesn't even matter which location you go to.

Welcome to the board! LOVE that your wedding is is a winter wedding. Very excited to see how things come along for you and see all of your details. I think winter weddings are so gorgeous!

If you're in love with that dress, see Erma in Lynnwood (I know that's a bit of a drive, but she's worth it). The David's there is amazing. The one in Southcenter has been terrible the 3 times I've been there. Also, if you're still looking, I'd make an appointment at Alfred Angelo in Southcenter. I'm a plus sized girl and Krystal was AMAZING. I was actually pissed about my David's appointment and walked into Alfred Angelo, which is just a few blocks away, and found the perfect dress.

I hope you find something that you love, and I hope you give both Alfred Angelo, and Davids in Lynnwood a try. Good luck!

Congrats on your engagement and welcome to the board!  I'm a plus sizer too at about an 18 in street clothes.  I've scoured David's website for dresses since the stores are unlikely to carry the exact dress I want to try on.  They told me to try the 6 dresses they have in my size to pick the style I like first then order the exact dress. Great.

Anyway, if you are OK with that process then check out www.lightinthebox.com. Another girl posted about it for veils (massive savings, holy cow) so I looked and they have a huge selection of dresses. They make it custom to your measurements for $30, the prices are AWESOME, and delivery is a fraction of the time of David's or local stores.  Just a thought if you are as thrify about your dress as I am.

    Good luck!

But why wouldn't you serve ice cream with the cake?

I had an okay experience with the David's Bridal at Tacoma Mall, went in w/o an appointment and they did find someone to help me.  But then I got a push for buy on the spot which turned me off.  I'm also a plus size so was excited there were some things to try on there.  Going to also look at Alfred Angelo and Nordstroms.  Frustrating to try and find something though that fits, looks good and I can afford (tight budget).  Good luck and congratulations!

Thanks everyone on the Seattle board.  I like that you mostly agree with me about David's, but I am very excited about all the ideas you've given me.
