June 2012 Weddings

For those who know about your shower...

Few questions :) What time is your shower?? We're having a hard time deciding how long, what part of the day, etc. Are you having "games" or anything along those lines? Tryin to get some ideas. My bms are planning th shower mostly but just looking for some ideas because none of us have been to a bridal shower in awhile :) Thanks ladies!!

Re: For those who know about your shower...

  • I know some details about the shower. I know it starts at 1:00pm and we have the venue for it as long as we need so they didn't specify an end time but it will probably end around 4:00pm

I know a recipe card was included with each invitation for guests to make a recipe book for me.

I don't know about their plans for games though. I know my MOH wanted to do a question & answer game about us but as far as games go thats all I heard about.

  • The one that my mom and sisters are throwing starts at noon. I'm not sure when FMIL's is starting yet.

We won't be doing too many games. I think we'll be setting off an egg timer and giving guests a gift or something when it goes off. I'm not sure how it works.

I dunno my family isn't too into games. We'd rather drink and talk.

  • Mine is 2-4 we'll do drinks and cake and some games most likely
  • 1:30-? but it will probably last until 3:30-4. We're having a few games. Just a wedding word scramble and a how well do you know Jess, Matt and Jess/Matt together.

I love the recipe idea too. We talked about that and we're thinking about designing on vp but do you know any places that sell reasonably priced plain recipe cards?
  • I dont know a lot details but I think the plan is to have it from about 1-4. We'll play a few games but mostly just eat and mingle.

  • We were thinking 2-4 just went sure if 2 hours was too long or what not. My family is more of a sit and talk/mingle group too
  • One is 2-5 and I know my BMs will make me play a few games but mostly eating, talking, and opening gifts. Shower by FMIL is noonish I think and hopefully no games!

  • Mine are 2-4. I don't know if any games are being played. I haven't been told anything.

  • 1 to 4. Playing he said/she said. MOH asks Fi questions ans me questions and,she will tyoe up answers and guests will have to pick if FI said it or me. Bingo during presents. Oneach place setting will be a word scramble, word search and crossword.
  • Mine is from 12-4. That seems like a long time but that's just what the restaurant told us to do. I don't think we're doing any games. But my MOH is sending out the invites this week and I think she is telling everyone to bring a favorite recipe.

  • My shower is on a Sunday and starts at 11 and will end probably at  2. We are having a breakfast bunch and mimosas. I don't drink so I wanted something low key with not to much drinking. I have made a lot of decisions for my shower because that's what they wanted. I'm having a destination wedding so the shower is very  important to me because a lot of guests won't be able to travel to Vegas for my wedding.

I'm not really into the games at bridal showers but I did tell my MOH that we could play one if it was necessary. We will probably just end up playing it by air. I'm sure everyone will just be talking and drinking anyway!
  • Both of my showers are around 2. I'm guessing they'll be from 2-4. I've asked for games so I'm hoping for some fun ones :)
  • Y'all reminded me that my mom insisted on putting recipe cards in the invitations for everyone to bring one. I'm actually kinda excited about it! I just hope there's not too many repeats.
  • Brunch 11-3 on a Sunday. I know the date & my mother even showed me the invites. I think we are having a mimosa fountain. I hope there are not a lot of games, but I am not supposed to be involved. Lol
  • Mine will start at 1pm.  I'm not sure how long it will be though.

As far as games, I know we'll probably do the registry bingo thing since that's simple.  Beyond that, I have no idea.

  • My shower is at 2 pm

we are having games... i know one is bingo for when i open gifts and i think we are doing a what's in your purse game (points for certain items.. most points wins).. but i'm not for sure my MOH isn't really telling me much about it.. sorry if i wasn't much help
  • My shower is at 12pm and will probably go until 2 or 3 (or whenever people leave). We're having a tea luncheon and probably playing a few games. Not entirely sure though
  • You've all been super helpful, thanks so much!! I am thinking 2 hours is definitely enough, and I just wondered what everyone else was doing to get some ideas.
so exciting that showers are coming up :)
  • 12:30-3 (weird time I know, but who cares)  Just registry bingo I think, maybe something else.  Mostly about the food though.  Shower is kitchen themed (which is good bc thats basically all we registered for)
