My mom called me at work today and told me that R was being rushed to Winnipeg for emergency surgery on his foot. He had cut his foot on a rock right before school let out, and it got infected. Mom was just telling me last night that she was concerned it wasn't being taken care of properly by the staff at the center, because she noticed it was looking worse. She had taken him on an overnight to see some family before he moves and yesterday morning before they left he was cleaning it and she barely touched his foot to steady it and he burst into tears that it hurt so bad. She noticed 2 small black lines on either side of the cut and she mentioned it to the staff last night when she dropped him off.
Today they took him to the hospital to have it checked (which they have been doing daily) and the lines were all the way up the bottom of his foot. The doctor said he needed to see a surgeon immediately so they were going to rush him to Winnipeg. I'm not sure if he went by ground or if they airlifted him, my mom couldn't really talk long, but she said the doctor said it was blood poisoning.
I am freaking out right now if I had the money and was able to leave work right now (I'm running the place until I leave to see him in 9 days.) I would be on a flight right now. I'm terrified to hear what exactly he needed surgery for, and I ust keep imagining the worst. If you could say a prayer for R and I tonight, I would really appreciate it.
