SICK TO MY STOMACH... WHY???

So last Wed night my FI and I were out to dinner & discussing what needs to be done.  I am a get it done now person & he is get it done on the 11th hour guy.  Well we were bickering back & forth.  The next morning I woke up with the worst back pain I have ever experienced.  I missed 2 days of work because of it.  I felt it was brought on from stress & I also probably slept wrong.  Well Saturday I was having issues with breathing - area in front where ribs come together - was tight & sore and I had a hard time with breathing in & out and having shortness of breath.  Future Sis In Law (who is a nurse) said I strained those muscles most likely.  Well today it is better than it has been - so that is good news.  I have been nauseous which I would assume it is from the tylenol & advil I took on Thurs/Fri/Sat (my stomach is funny w/ pain pills sometimes).
This is the scary part - my friend tells me that she had the same problems & it was her gallbladder & she had to have it removed.  I don't have time to go to the Drs, but my mom wants me to go to be sure.  This can not happen to me with 18 days to go.  WTF.  I hope it is just strained muscles.
Sorry, I just needed to vent.  Thanks for listening.

By the way, very unlikley prego - Im on the pill & he is not "finishing" inside me - not until our wedding night.  Don't worry, thought of this already - although it does make sense...

Re: SICK TO MY STOMACH... WHY???

  • I've never had gallbladder issues, but I know people who have. They had pains and problems for quite awhile.  I would take time though to go to the doctor due to the breathing issues.  It could just be mostly stress related. I know that when I'm extremely stressed I can have shortness of breath, tense muscles and my stomach feels like crap.  Good luck!

  • It's possible it could be your gallbladder, but the symptoms are so vague that it could be stress, strained muscles, minor panic attacks, an ulcer, any combination of the above, or a million other things. If you're concerned, you need to see your doctor.

If may not be comforting, but I've had gallbladder issues in the past. About a year and a half ago, I was terribly ill for 3.5 weeks and it was related to inflammation of my gallbladder. Since the repeated attacks finally stopped and I showed no gallstones, nothing has ever been done. You can have gallbladder problems once in your life and never again, but more commonly it comes back to bother you within the next 10 years. I still get minor attacks but they're manageable at home because they're from inflammation, not stones. Will I eventually need mine out? Probably, because inflammation causes scarring.

Even if you did need it out before the wedding, in 9 cases out of 10, it's really no big deal. Minor day surgery, home and walking about that evening and back to your more strenuous activities schedule within a week (lifting, working out, etc). The crappiest part I've ready about is the potential gas bubbles from the gas they use to inflate your abdomen. Many people have surgery and are back to work within 48 hours.

Good luck and talk to your doctor about your health issues.

  • Avoid fatty foods (on the off chance that it is the gall bladder, as eating fat causes the organ to produce and release bile).  In the mean time, try to mange your stress.  Pain, shortness of breath, and nausea can also be signs of anxiety.  Be gentle to yourself and if the symptoms persist, see your primary care provider (or ED if it gets really serious) to get it checked out.

  • PPs had good advice for gallbladder issues. It could also just be stress. I am experiencing some crazy unusual things right now (constant itching.. scratching myself until welts/hives appear, anxiety attacks, intense pain in my stomach) and it's all from stress. I've experienced similar to this before, but we have a lot of family issues going on right now and it just freaks me out thinking they could cause problems.

I would really try and see a doctor soon rather than later. Not knowing what it is will add stress and likely not help you out at all :( If it is the gallbladder and has to be removed, it's a quick procedure and you're home in no time. Better to do it now than it get too bad and ruin wedding day! Good luck, I hope you feel better soon.

  • I called the Dr earlier, as you guys advised, but they had nothing available today or tomorrow.  I told her of my urgency & asked her to call me if anyone cancels.  Fingers crossed they call.
I am starting to wonder if it is anxiety.  After reading the posts, I do get anxious when I fly & my stomach feels sour, my breathing feels labored & shallow.  Mind you I love to fly, so it is not a fear of flying, more of a I can't wait to get where I am going issue.
I am going to pick up some Zantact on the way home.  I may need the heavier stuff - Zanax. LOL
I was pretty good today with eating - I had 1 pc of pepperidge farm cin raisen whole wheat toast with butter & a glass of OJ.  Snack at 10am I had about 7 or 8 natural almonds.  Lunch I had Sesame Chicken Lean Cuisine and a bite size 3 muscateer bar :)  I know dinner will be chicken breast, don't know how I am cooking it yet.
I don't think that I ate much fat, did I? I am a naturally skinny person & never have to watch my weight.  The Lean Cuisine is about simple - no time to go out & buy a lunch, so I zap it in the micro & eat :)

Like PPs said, if it is a gallbladder issue, the surgery isn't a big deal. My dad had his gallbladder removed a few months ago and recovered really quickly. Good job with your eating today!
  • While your stomach feels sour I probably wouldn't drink OJ or have much citrus or acidic foods. I have to be super careful with my food because of my stomach problems and those really bother an anxious tummy for me. :(

Though a glass of wine does help lol.
