June 2012 Weddings

Poll: Money related activities at reception??

So I was in a wedding last weekend and at the reception, they did a "dollar dash" (the MOH and bestman ran around collecting cash from the guests, and if the MOH got more, all the money went to the bride and if the best man collected more, it all went to the groom). I had always been against doing stuff like that at our wedding, but they made out with almost $400.

I always thought that if people wanted to give us money, they'll put it in a card or whatever. I feel like it's kind of putting people on the spot and making them feel obligated to give us money (even though it's optional to participate, you know some people feel like they have to do it). Buuuuttttt an extra $400 would be nice to have for the honeymoon...

What are you all's opinions about that things like the dollar dance, dollar dash, etc...?

*Edit: Feel free to explain your answer in a post :)
