Interview update

Thanks for the words of encouragement ladies!!  The interview went really well, lasted about 30 minutes and they had me fill out a form for a background check.

They informed me that the district manager will be contacting me at some point this week for a phone interview about 15-20 minutes.  They also let me know that she will be asking me questions about loss prevention and any ideas I have that they may be able to implement.

The interviewers also asked me about this and I had two ideas that I am going to tell her, I plan on talking to my sister who is the LP department at Target so hopefully she will be able to help.  If you ladies have any other ideas or experiences please share!!

After my phone interview with the DM, she will call the store manager and discuss everything and then they will bring me back in.  It sounds like I am really in the running for this position from what they said.  They also said I may actually be over qualified for this position but it will work in my favor as they are looking for someone to sort of step up and lead the group of assistant managers that they have!

YAY!  I will keep everyone posted.  Thanks for caring ladies, I don't know anyone down here besides my FI and his family so it is nice to have support and be able to share!

  • I'm glad it went well, employment is always a relief.

I worked at a Target for several months when I was out of school :)  One of the most effective things they do there is, if you see someone acting suspicously, approach them and ask, "Can I help you find something?"  Especially when dealing with teenagers, this works really well as it's a non-confrontational way to let them know you can see them - it temporarily breaks through a barrier of perceived invulnerability, to remind them that there are people watching (this is not Target's official stance, but mine as a student of child development).  Additionally, it's what team members at Target are requested to ask customers all the time anyway, so it's not like you're doing anything out of the ordinary.
