Still trying to figure out Honeymoon!

So i've got 6 months to go and we arent 100% on the Honeymoon yet! Crap! We wanted to go to Whistler, but judging by last year, probably won't be snow in September, so deciding to go somewhere warm & sunny.

Who's been to Hawaii? what is the best island to go for honeymoons? we really just want to go hiking one day, snorkeling and maybe a zipline or something, dont really need shopping or nightlife.

If you want more outdoorsey stuff, I would look into Kauai.  Not sure if there is ziplining on the island, but I would imagine there is.  FI and I like to have some nightlight which is why we looked at Maui.  FWIW, I'm 4 months out and we still haven't gotten our HM done...yeah....

I have been to Maui, Kauai, and Oahu.  Of the three, I actually liked Oahu best.  That island has everything!  It's big/populated enough to have both the beautiful Hawaiian nature, but also a variety of places to eat & stuff.  If you rent a car, you can see the whole island.  FI & I went there for 9 days last April, and there is still stuff left on our list to do that we hadn't gotten to!

I haven't been to either yet, but it sounds like you'd want to go to the Big Island or Kauai.

From what I hear from the Hawaii girls and friends and family who've been, Oahu is the most developed island with the big city (honolulu) and the most popular beach (waikiki).  Lots of shopping, museums, art galleries, etc.  It's not all people, but there are definitely more there.

The Big Island is really huge, has the active volcano, is supposed to be the most wild - because it's the newest island.  I don't know as much about it, but I do hear it's gorgeous and has tons to do because there's so much natural stuff going on.

Kauai is not as developed as say Maui, relatively laid back, not a lot of night life, but lots of outdoorsy stuff - they have the Waimea Canyon which is compared to the Grand Canyon, river kayaking, and the Na Pali coast, which you can only fly over, boat around, or hike through and is supposed to be gorgeous.

Maui is a combo of fun and development - high end resorts, shopping centers, gorgeous beaches, but also some really cool remote jungles and beaches.

The best guidebooks for Hawaii are by Wizard Publications author Andrew Doughty.  He has one for each island, and they've been a great resource to us.  You might want to buy one for the Big Island (Big Island Revealed) and for Kauai (Ultimate Kauai Guidgebook), and see which you prefer.

I like Maui the best b/c its a mix of modern stuff like bars and shopping but still small enough to feel like your in the middle of nowhere.  Personally, Oahu is too busy and big for me.  I don't want to go to Hawaii and be in a big city.

But for what you want, it sounds like Kaui is best.   I haven't been to Kaui yet, but I understand its the most romantic, its not as developed as Maui or Oahu and its the most outdoorsy.  The Big Island might be good for you too.

Thanks for all the info guys!  there are so many good deals out there right now, found some packages that for room & flight, are less than driving to Whistler and staying up there! sweet :)

The quiz results were closesly tied between Maui & Kauai.  Wil update whenever we book it!

I'm a huge Maui fan, but if you're more outdoorsy, I think you may want Kauai (or the Big Island).  Maui is more of a combo outdoorsy plus developed and has a little bit of everything, whereas Kauai and the Big Island are definitely more for people who want to be adventuring outside.

I've been to Maui, Oahu and the big island.  I would love to go to Kauai - but seriously, Maui is my paradise.  It has the greatest mix of outdoorsy stuff and some touristy stuff too.  But, i'm sure you'll be happy with whatever you choose!
