Thank you note etiquette

Hey girls!

Question about thank you cards! H & I have gone through the cards and gifts we received @ our wedding last weekend. I am definitely sending thank you cards to those guests... But what about the ones who did not leave a card or gift? We have record of their attendence on our guest book calendar, but I wasn't sure if a formal "thank you" card was needed/required (since some people say the reception is the "thank you" to guests for attending the wedding)

What do you all think??

I'm not too sure about the etiquette part, but I had guests show up to my shower without a gift and I simply sent them a Thank You card for their attendance and for sharing in our special time.

I wont be sending a thank you card for coming to the wedding.... the reception is the thank you to the guests for coming to the ceremony.

Coolio! This is what I was thinking too... But just wanted to be sure I wasn't being rude (as if going to a wedding without at least a card isn't!) Just sayin! :P

I wouldn't send anything.  Guests can send you gifts after the wedding and it would be awkward to send them a thank you for the gift if you had already sent them something.

I am not; partly because of what Chelsea said and also because my guestbook would do me no good in this situation. We are doing a "message in a bottle" guestbook so depending on what the guest does I may not even read their note until my 20th wedding anniversary.

I think I would send a thank you to those who came from really far away or who helped out a lot, even if they didn't give a gift.
