Thank you note etiquette

Hey girls!

Question about thank you cards! H & I have gone through the cards and gifts we received @ our wedding last weekend. I am definitely sending thank you cards to those guests... But what about the ones who did not leave a card or gift? We have record of their attendence on our guest book calendar, but I wasn't sure if a formal "thank you" card was needed/required (since some people say the reception is the "thank you" to guests for attending the wedding)

What do you all think??

Re: Thank you note etiquette

  • I'm not too sure about the etiquette part, but I had guests show up to my shower without a gift and I simply sent them a Thank You card for their attendance and for sharing in our special time.
  • I wont be sending a thank you card for coming to the wedding.... the reception is the thank you to the guests for coming to the ceremony.

Coolio! This is what I was thinking too... But just wanted to be sure I wasn't being rude (as if going to a wedding without at least a card isn't!) Just sayin! :P

    Thanks for the feedback ladies!
  • I wouldn't send anything.  Guests can send you gifts after the wedding and it would be awkward to send them a thank you for the gift if you had already sent them something.

    <div>Ditto, Chels.</div>
  • I am not; partly because of what Chelsea said and also because my guestbook would do me no good in this situation. We are doing a "message in a bottle" guestbook so depending on what the guest does I may not even read their note until my 20th wedding anniversary.

I think I would send a thank you to those who came from really far away or who helped out a lot, even if they didn't give a gift.
